Featured Replies

hello. I know quite alot of you use a539's and rate them quite highly, but i was wondering how long they last becuase i know they are a soft rubber tyre. I have heard people have to replace them after 10,000 miles  I only ask this because i need 185/50/14 to run on my ra's and yokos are all i can find :? ow and i do alot of motorway driving i think this improves the life on tyres dosent it?

lucky for 10000 if you drive quickly

When my car was around 170bhp I'd get 6,000 miles out of a pair of fronts - but that included RWYB drag use too. On the rears they last forever.

i see well the 10,000 miles was on a honda vtec what used to get ragged. so I'm guessing that my standard gt should be quite good with them because i dont drive it quick at all. well thats what I'm hoping for any way  what has other people got out of them?

Any one else used these tyres?

I've had nearly 20k out of a pair of fronts before I had to swap em!

They will do the mileage if you treat em with a bit of tlc

I run A539's all round on my valver and I've done nearly 20k on them and they are still very legal.

I do drive on them hard at times aswell.

I'd recommend the tyre very highly though, very grippy tyre once warm, iv only ever had them let go when cold, once they are warm they seem to just grip and go!

you've found yokos in a 14" size? Can I ask where? They have been discontinued in pretty much all sizes except very small ones for old minis. I'm currently using the replace tyre the s-drive on my g40. Don't rate them as much as a539s but they did pretty well at the last track day I did.

Yea i found them in 185/50/14 i didnt think they where hard to get hold off, all the tyre fitters around mine can get them in. and thanks for the replys guys keep em coming :-)

You can still get them at a good price from Camskill.

well that's not what Camskill told me when I asked them for some A539s a couple of months ago:

Good Morning,

These are no longer available, and the replacement the S Drive is out of stock with no date as to when they may be due in.

kind regards

Neil

Then I emailed yokohama UK directly and they said:

Afternoon,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding Yokohama tyres.

The A539 has been dis-continued in many sizes but it is still available in a

handful. If you let me know what size(s) you need I will let you know if it

is still in stock.

I hope this helps.

Russell Barratt

Yokohama HPT Ltd

and...

Morning Paul,

the 195/45R15 is now fully dis-continued and replaced with the s-drive tyre.

The 175/60R13 is an awkward one because Yokohama have not yet made an

alternative pattern and may not do as it is not a common size these days,

the A539 is still showing as available in that size but we do not have any

stock.

The A539 will probably always be produced an a couple of sizes, 175/50R13

for example is one we still sell hundreds of for the mini's but it will

literally be one or two sizes only.

Sorry not to be of more help

Regards

Russell

Although maybe there are a couple of 14s still available.

I ended up getting my S-Drive tyres from Ears Motorsport in Macclesfield, they also said they can't get A539s in pretty much any size any more.

humm well hopfully they are still doing them in 185/50 others wise I'm a bit screwed for tyres  because thats all i can find.

Found these on the camskill website if its any good?

Here

Well, I can still get the 185/50/14 A539's very easily.

i had yokos on the back of my car for about 10k miles and thought they were rubbish, get some toyo's if you can much better tyre by far, tyre land on churchfields should be able to find summit that fits.

i can still get yokos for my 14" RA's from all the tyre places in stafford

i ordered some yoko A539s in through halfords in 195/45/14 for £46 a pop i think... although this was earlier in the year.

I've done about 6k on em in my GT and they do spin up when i give it some, but they're still definitely very legal. Probs last me about 15k and I drive like an arsehole allll the time.

That made me lol

Spoke to my mate, who gets me my tyres and he has told me

that they are still available in 185/50/14....so i've ordered 2 just

to be on the safe side and i'll get another 2 next month.
