Not sure if this is the right section, but I need to know if it's legal/MOTable first

I have a pair of Mk1 seatbelt buckles + belts (where the belt itself slides under the metal buckle on the seat) And my mk2 has the familiar setup where the buckle is ON the belt and it all slots into the buckle on the seat, If I chopped the mk2's plastic/metal buckle off the front belts and bolted on the mk1's buckles onto the seats (replicating the mk1's system) would this work? Would it be an MOT pass, and most importantly, would it be just as safe as before?

Hope this was easy enough to understand...

Difficult question.... yeah, it should pass an MOT. Will it be legal depends on whether you've declared the mod to insurance. As safe I'm unsure on, design evolution generally happens for a reason, whether that's just ease of use or a safety arguement I don't know.

Well, the belt material is as it should be... I guess I just have to understand that so far as chopping the original buckle off the belt goes, it's a mod that can't be undone without replacing the entire tensioner system... In other words, if I don't like it, it'll cost me
