Quick Q, did you need to modify anything on the 6n2 boot because i seem to remember Mike on Uk-P said he had to do some work to make it fit flush?

yer .. mike had same... but i wasnt convised so i loosened off the hinges.. pushed them up as much as i could... and then nipped them up... and seams to sit allmost perfect.. (part from od small gaps caused be a shaidy past.. :()

but tbh a bit of light filler work will soon bring it into line...

i will sort out some pics.. 4 a thred...

bloody hell what are you doing with that poor car!

^^ :? please tell me you keyed up the original paint before you painted it? It just looks like you havnt...?! Hopefullly it will look good when its all sprayed up though

once fittted properly with 6n2 rear lights there is a bit of a ledge between the lights and resess be low. and the bottom line of the boot should line up if it dont keep trying to "lift" the boot lid when the boot is shut the roof and lid should also line up perfectly..

i do have pics but not on this pc...

McTangus:

yes i sanded it down with wet need dry 1st...

tbh.. i should hav got the heat gun out and wall paper scraper out like i did 4 the roof as the laqure is just falking off the poor girl!!!

once i have finished the front am gona give it to my mate to respray... thats if i can stop the engine from breaking all the time..

alright guys i had the same problem with the 6n2 tailgate and lights and tbh you do need to weld a plate in place and fill it to bring it out the 5mm that it needs. pix of mine below.

just think it finishes it off and gives it more of a (out the factory) kind of look

much better smoothed filled and flushed with body and lights imo.

cheers mike.. does your boot sit flush with the roof???

i love your polo so much....

really know how u did your bummper.... as mine looks pooo compared :( lol

cheers mate yours is coming along nicely too pal defo go for a respray when you get some wonga aka cash.

yeah mate the boot lid sits perfect to the roof.

my bumper number plate light has been done with fibreglass and filler mate only took me 2 days to do thought it would take me longer as it was a pain in the ass to get the shape right ended up useing tin foil to mould it.

  • 1 month later...

so time for the BIG update!!!!!! 8-)

so thanks to jay t 08 i know have my 6n2 front end!

parts i got:

6n2 front pannel: does need trimming down to fit!!!

6n2 slam pannel: not used did not fit!.... slightly chopper down 6n 1 to fit!! i think its a stronger fit!!!!!

rad+ fan... can use the 6n rad.. they the same!!

headlights!!! tricky bit needed big rewire to work on 6n lighting loom

wings

bumper

grills ect

it littered my garage floor quiet well i thought lol

DSC00809.jpg

so gave it all a rub down.... and a coat of satin and litterally bolted it all on!!! was harder than i 1st thought as its not all direct fit! in fact only the wings and the hinges for the bonnet were! lol but oh well!

so here is some pics i took during the build.. (only just finished the headlights 20 min ago.. all tested and fitted lol)
