In the states (paticularly california) a lot of vehicles run with the indicators on all the time (but not flashing), they call them 'running lights'.

I think thats what he is on about,

Iv done it on my 6n, just run the sidelight bulb holders/wires to the indicator, drilled a hole in the back of the indicator, and put orange side repeater bulbs in instead of white bulbs. If you have got standard dim/dip H4 headlamp bulbs, they light up dimly as the sidelights still with the ignition on.

And you can still see the indicators lighting up clearly aswell.

On US spec stuff the indicator goes out when it flashes though if you get what I mean.

This is the same thing i have on my G40 too. Have no pics of the 6n

A daytime running lamp (DRL, also daylight running lamp or daytime running light) is a lighting device on the front of a roadgoing motor vehicle, installed in pairs, automatically switched on when the vehicle is moving forward, and intended to increase the conspicuity of the vehicle during daylight conditions. DRLs might have been first seriously proposed in 1961 in the USA, in response to Texas then-Governor Price Daniels' drive-safely campaign.

the pics of that 6n2 just look like he's put an orange fog bulb and orange side light bulb in.

a mate found a way of doing it run a half 6volt rester on the indercater so its light up half the when you indercate it will light up fully and repet and i can still keep side lights with running lights :D

like this??

It's a good look  Does anyone know the legal side to doing it?

i would recon it must be legals as you see lots of "yank tanks" and limos etc driving about with it and the indicator brake light stuff etc.

it is not legal to have amber marker lights on front of car in the uk i have had them for years but i have to disconnect them for the mot or it wont pass, they actually do a indicator light with orange marker light built in and this uses a double filament bulb but they are not easy to find though as i missed a set a few months ago ,

thats bollocks. just so you know

new shape bmw 3 or 5 series

yellow running lights on front

volvos

running lights (amber ) on the front, side, and side rear

I had amber sidelights in one of my cars and it passed 4 MOT's with them in.

you got a point! although they are only little L.E.D tjobbies they are still DRL's

Can you get orange sidelight bulbs for a 6n2 anywhere as i think they look awesome like that, or do you have to use the indicators?

If so, could you bodge some inidicator bulbs into the sidelight holders?

Cheers
