Got caught speeding in june last year by a hidden camera.

Doing 91mph in a 60mph limit- on a single carrige way.

Received the letter a few months later with the photo.

Said it was me driving (pled guilty), now have a court appearance in March- due to it being too high for a fixed penalty.

I've sent in a letter with guilty plea and proof of finances and all that to try and settle before court, but havnt heard back from them yet.

I'm 24, been driving for nearly 4 years and have 3points on my licence.

Anyone else been in the same boat?

What am i looking at?

Hopefully not a ban, as ill be fooked with work and everything else.

next time some knob in a S4 is tailgating my while doing the limit and wont overtake, ill stamp on my brakes.

Might be worth getting your boss to do a letter saying how you need to be able to drive because of your work.

Not strictly true. The law says that the NIP has to be "served" within 14 days, not "received" within 14 days. If this is disputed, it is up to a court to decide whether a NIP was served correctly or not.

There have been two test cases where a NIP was sent 2 days after the offence and arrived on the 16th day after the offence, yet the court held that it had still been served within 14 days.

In the second case the NIP was sent on day 13 and received on day 15 and the court said it had not been served correctly so charges were dropped.

Basically it is still possible for a NIP to arrive after 14 days and still be 100% legitimate.

As for the original poster, I'd guess probably 6 points and a fine but a ban would be unlikely, especially if you could show to the court how essential your car was for your job etc.

Your looking at about 4points with a hefty fine I'd say.

Very much doubt youd get banned.

Car looked good in the photo lol, proper slammed.

I received the first letter (saying i was caught speeding) 9 days after the offence. Then was told i would get another letter (summons) soon from the police/court- which took months!

So i said it was me driving. A mate of mine got caught speeding and said it wasnt him and tried to blag it, even with photographic evidence and basicly tried to drag it out as long as possible.

ended up getting a worse outcome- He was fined and lost his licence. He was a bit of a chav though!

Anyway thinking of selling my GT now- wanna get another passat estate (TDI 130).

Also not true, there are a number of cuircumstances where the length of time can be extended greatly, to name a few, if you recently perchased the car, if it was a company car, a rental or the car belonged to somone else. In all of these situations the police are granted a reasanable extention to identify the driver of the vehicle befor serving the NIP.

As for the outcome you are probably lookingat a big fine and a 30 day ban or 6 points, you may get away with out the ban if you plead hardship (loss of job without car etc.).
