How will these look? Will they sit far from the arch? Any snaps with 195/45 tyres on?

Thinking of buying some Borbet as.

they're 16x7 front; 16x9 rear. et is 35ish me thinks.

1st) will my 195/45/16 fit on them?

2nd) will they fit on the car or look stupid?

195/45/16 will fit on them fine... little bit of a pain getting the tyres on but they will go on... and the wheels will look cool on the rear.

Rims outside the arches is illegal.

Also, stretched tyres are illegal.

However, it's upto you what you choose to do... i use stretched tyres and wide rims all day every day and i have been fine so you will probably be ok too (think of the thousands of dubbers that have this on their car)!

I don't know about the wheels, for second hand fully refurbed i would have thought you would be better off just buying new ones!

and its a grey area in the law mate so it all depends. I've been pulled about 3 times and the worst theyve said is "get it sorted" but there are people on here who have been given points. Google the subject and youll find a never ending debate tbh.

Its just up to you if you want to run the risk.

yeah i'm pretty sure i don't want to run the risk, would rather spend the cash on a set of rims i ain't gona get told to remove or get points for, there's too many other areas for this!!

It is illegal because you are going well beyond the manufacturers recommendations, and, in a court of law, i very much doubt you make an argument for the safety of stretch tyres lol.

Don't get me wrong, we all know that tyres can hack a lot more stretch than the manufacturers state... but it would be illegal and i got pulled and got told to take them off and get my car re-MOT'd.

HOWEVER... it's worth running the risk (round here anyway) cuz the police don't give enough of a sh*t.

search the web mate, protruding rims ar NOT illegal if they do not exceed 30mm from the arch

try the SVA website,

some guy have printed off a section of the site and keep it in their glovebox

stretched tyres are a grey area........... just dont go too mad!

there have been no cases that i have heard of that tyres have popped off or a blow out has occured!!

do some homework mate its worth it
