Do door pins and changes in the dash lighting need to be declared to the insurance companys???

had the thought that if someone nicked my car the insurers might turn round and say it was due to my non standard door pins and it was my fault, i.e. wave good bye to your insurance!!

i doubt the insurance company willl be to bothered. its more alloy wheels. suspension etc.

how would they know? your car would have been stolen

A mate of mine didnt get a pay out as he had a chrome gearknob and gaiter surround in his 106.

Phone them up and they might not care, but that doesnt matter to you as they now have recorded evidence of you declaring it.

If they spot it then they might not pay. If you have a big crash and cause a lot of damadge then they will go looking for any way they can to not end up out of pocket. If that involves saying your door pins are not declared so your insurance is invalid and we are sueing you to recoup the cost of the claim they will.

No matter how big or small the mod's, It is best to inform your Insurer. Then you can have peace of mind everything you have done to your car is covered and in the event of an accident you know you have disclosed everything.

I'd probably mention it, and they'll go away, scratch their arse and come back and say it's fine.

Generally, I take off my door pins on older polos to make to a 10 second job to steal the car instead of a 5 second.

I wouldnt have bothered if I were you, if your involved in an accident, because of the age of your car they would probably just write it off anyway without looking at it in too much detail.

i do see their point , if you got sparky pin`s , matts , gear knob , carbon effect dash bits , it does make it more desirable to the chav theif on the street , and a badly fitting gear knob could cause an accident i sopose
