Folks,

wondering if you might be able to help. Have a 2000 Polo and the petrol flap has broken off. The hinge is still attached but the circular main part snapped off, tried to glue back on without any luck.

Does anyone have an idea of how to replace it? I have looked in a Haynes manual but it doesnt mention it.

Was hoping to be able to do it myself with one from a scrap yard (or ebay)...

Unfortunatly don't have an answer as I'm looking to do the same to my 6N but I'm hopfully poping into the guarage tomorow and I have no trim back there right now so I'll have a look from the inside and maybe take some photos if I remember my camera but I have a bad feeling VW may have got out the no more nails and glued the entire unit in place from inside.

Ok I was in the back of the 6N today and you can't get to the petrol cap from inside the car, you have to go in through the wheel arch. Sorry I can't be of more help.

so have to remove the plastic in the wheel arch? I was hoping that there was a surround inside the actual flap (around the filler cap) that when removed revealed where the hinge was attached with a screw or something! :(

So unfortunatly, yes it looks like the plastic wheel arch will have to come off just to see how it's attached.
