Can you buy one power cable to run two amps? Ie. one thick cable to the battery that splits at the rear of the car to both amps, for neater routing and easier connection to the battery?

Bit of a n00bish question i know, but i am an ICE noob!

my mate did this and it worked fine. i think you can get a split piece connector thingy from maplins whifch do everythin electrical.

So i could simply cut the cable and reconnect it to a splitter as required?

thats exactly what my mate did to his so i dont see why not

0 guage power cable from battery to rear, then a distribution block then 2 4 guage cables to the amps (1 to each)

then earth both amps 4 guage

Just one more thing, do i REALLY need 0 gauge wire instead of just the one thats in now? It would be nice not to have to thread a new one through the car, plus the current one has a fuse ready fitted too...

What is the real RMS power of the two amps?

0AWG is excessive unless you plan to draw a very large current over a fair distance, we're talking serious amps here not 600wmaxx pmpo type's.

List the model numbers and an estimate of how far the amps will be from the battery (in the boot 4m or so) and i'll calculate you the current draw and link you to a bargain wiring kit.

Autoleads stuff is usually very good value for money and e-bay will slaughter dealer prices on these wiring kits..

i would say just get the 0 gauge just to be on the safe side, and once its bought you'll never have to buy wiring again(unless you sell your car and leave it in there). and plus, if you get the autoleads wiring kit, its got the splitter you require in there too with the correct fuses etc...

yes is the answer you can run 2 amps off 1 wire but you are best using a distribution block in the boot i would not recomend you just split the wire

Not got a link but any GOOD audio shop will have it in...

it has a new battery terminal connection, then 0 gauge wire with 100amp fuse, to a dizzy block splitting 0 gauge to 4 gauge suitable for amps. then from the amp there is earth cable 4 gauge to a dizzy blcom again to 0 gauge.

it is all readily crimped too and also has extra bits like cable ties and stuff.

I'm glad i paid the £100 for it as i'll never need to fork out for another kit ever again!

i've brought a boxset for £100 too (cant remember the brand at the mo!). It easily ran a 1000w RMS Rockford amp no problems and a 3000w monoblock at low power. I might have a dist block kicking around that i dont need.

I'd also recommend using ANL fuses for higher current flow, instead of AGU fuses as the highest i found was 80amp. Depends if your system needs them though.

where do you get these fuses from? do i need a new fuse holder if i get one.

You'll need a new fuse up close to the battery. I have one of these going spare and I can chuck in a 150amp fuse too. PM me if you're interested.

Yup, 300amp fuses ftw!!! Lol
