Polo 6n (1.8t 20v V5)

Featured Replies

hi there was wundering if anyone could help???

i have a 1999 Vw Polo 6n but i have dropped an Audi A3 quattro 1.8 turbocharged 20valve 5 cylinder 180Bhp engine in and i have burnt out 2 sets of Bosch discs and pads in 2 and half months not very happy as they was £120 anyway.the question is could i maybe upgrade my brakes off a VR6 maybe basically i just need some disc and pads what can hack my engine conversion.its a bit of a difference from my old 1.6 8v 100bhp engine as the brakes was tip top with that engine.but i need sumthing that can hack 180bhp and braking at such speeds as 145mph!lol!

you kept the standard polo brakes when dropping a 1.8t in your polo?

1.8 20vt 4 cylinder. . . . .

VR6s are 5 stud, I'm using the Golf G60 setup as a starting point for stoppers.

Pics or it didnt happen!

Did i read that right, a V5?

The V5s are 2.3L 150ps in 10v form 170ps in 20v form.

I'm guessing the OP was confused by the 5v (per cylinder) on the engine cover.

guess he paid someone to do the conversion

It's quicker (much), well it must be. 8-)

drive more sensible

g60 brakes fit

failing that, if you want ultimate performance look at wilwoods e.t.c

Aye i know what they are, just never heard of it being done in a 6N!

If you fit 16v hubs at the front, then you can use G60 calipers and carriers, which will allow you to fit 280mm discs. They should be able to cope.
