Timeline Of My Cars!

Featured Replies

Its been a while since I've been a regular poster on this site, but I'm still a lurker, always good to see what everyone else is upto, and after all, polos is what started it all for me! :-)

Just been going through my Photobucket and found loads of old pics, so I thought id share the timeline of my car ownership from start to finish, theres only 3 cars to talk of, but thought some of you may want to see how they've progressed.

My 1st car, started it all for me. 1991 Polo GT Coupe in LA9V black, bought her when I was 16 with 73k on the clock down the road in Barry, she was too good to miss!

How I bought her:

As she wasnt being used much, and I spent many, many hours cleaning her, minting her up, all little bodywork probs everything, along with a few modifications and upgrades.

About a month after passing my test, while waiting at traffing lights, this happened:

I was totally gutted, but luckily managed to save her from getting written off and the scrap yard. Lucky for me, my old man has worked in a body shop and been a panel beater for over 20 years, so has a good eye for detail, so undertook the task of fixing her.

Got her all fixed, and added some more mods, I wanted to keep her pretty OEM looking.

She looked like that for a few months, till I decided to try another set of wheels i'd had lying about for ages!

Put G40 clocks in when milages matched, so didnt effect the miles on the history!

Last nice pics I have of her before she went  Sorry they're abit bluurey, was cold and windy.

After owning her over 2 years, and always having a love for mk 3 Golfs, I decided to swap when offered the chance, still miss the polo and would buy her back if I had the chance and spare cash!

Heres what I got for her:

With Zombie86c's old GT

Just cleaned her up and sorted out problems and enjoyed her for a few months.

After getting fed up with the little dents, scratches and other problems with the bodywork, I decided to get her re-sprayed and splash out on other things, gettin the wheels re-furbed new trim etc

After a year of ownership, I had got bored of her, wasnt fast enough, and just deciced a change.

Then my mate offered me his baby, it was too good of an oppertunity to miss a car i had seen being built from standard, and had dreampt about owning.

haven't done much to her, theres not much I want to change to be honest! Few bits of CC'ding to be done over the new year now, and a few plans in the pipeline.

Currently in wintermode :ninja:

Thats it! Thanx for looking, hope it was'nt too long winded. Thanx club polo for getting me started on the dub ladder, cant see myself leaving it anytime soon.

Sorry about the size of some of the pics, they're still massive after I resized them, stupid photobucket. lol

Any questions, comments etc welcome :-)

Thanx for the comments folks, i do miss the GT still, looking back, i wish i'd dropped her 60mm and a few other things. Heres a P chop i had done.

The speaker pods were off Jake-GT on here, who got them off another member. They do come up from time to time!

Golf III is very nice! Perfect color, just rims are too "closed", a like when I see jaws of brakes, like at A3 (black) :D

That GT is fubaring shexy *purrs*

i prefer the Audi's winter wheels, sell the porsche rims to help fund a polo!

nick, you know what I think of your cars....they're all amazing! in all fairness all the cars you've had, you keep MINT!

I sold him the doorpods. Gutted you let them go with the car, I would of bought them back off you for the G40. Nevermind, found another set.

And also the Audi was my brothers car, and is a very nice car indeed.

  • 1 year later...

Gonna start with my usual: "Sorry for bringing up an old thread"

But just wondering where the GT ended up?

Bloody hell James! Its been a while! Hows things? What are you driving now?

The Polo went to Milton Keynes when I swapped it, last I heared it was in Reading, but not 100% sure. Not sure now, last time I checked on the DVLA website it was still on the road! Still miss that car now

Heres an up to date pic of the A3:

I know, i dissapeared for a while.

Trying to sort cars out at the moment. I had the golf GTI, G40 loon and Lupo. I got shot of the golf and drove the G40 for a while, G40 broke so I got a Honda accord  traded it for an Alfa 156 which died so I got rid of it. Sold the G40 as repair job. Got a cheapy mk3 polo trying to sell the lupo so I end up with 1 car Then I'll sell or p/x for something better. That was the short version I may have missed out 3 or 4 cars.

No worries, I'll keep an eye out for the GT. Seen my old G40 for sale on here so tempted to get it back but I really need to sell the loop first.
