i've just bought a car with no log book and i need to find out how i go about getting another log book and putting it in my name. has any one had any experience of do this?

Form V62 (I think) off the DVLA website. If you've got a new keepers for it (even an old one ) it's free, otherwise, it's about £20 IIRC.

thats correct ^^^^^^^ its £25 when i last did one without a new keepers slip, go down the post office and ask them they will sort you out the right form or look on dvla website. super easy to do.

They send a letter to the last registered adress and if there is no response in 2 weeks or they say its yours then a new logbook will be in the post to you

that sounds promising, i got the form today so i'll post it off tomorrow, hopefully they won't get a reply to the letter
