I'll be booking my test soon so starting to look around for insurance for my 1l mk3 polo coupe. I'm 17, female, It's lowered -80mm at the moment, but i've also got a -40mm lowering kit and a set of standard suspension in the garage, it's stripped out, just 2 buckets in the front, different exhaust, de-badged grill and mk2 golf steelies.

Anyone any ideas wheres best to look for insurance or if theres any chance i can keep some mods if not all?

you may need to shop around with the mods. I'm with Diamond, got alloys and lowered sus and had no problem with them. Also if you are a new driver some companies offer a discount if you take pass plus course.

Its only £70 to do and if you save a bit more than that on the policy its totally worth it.

Try bell, they're very good i found, but they won't insure you with a -80 drop unfortunately. But there is a loophole, it may be a -80mm kit but it won't actually drop it that much, so measure how low it is currently against factory standard. I found mine was actually only -50mm! Hope this helps a bit.

Sell the 1.0 and buy a GT then. +25bhp and much nicer interior, bodykit etc as standard.

Stick the mods in the garage for a year and declare them in a years time.

I tried bell but they wanted 1800 for mine as standard. Think I'm just gonna run around for the first year or so with standard suspension and declare the other mods which shouldnt work out too bad as they don't affect performance so wont put it up as high.

bell are usually the best, i got quoted 1770 for new driver, alloys declared, fully comp with brakedown cover, courtesy car and legal costs.
