Polo Gt At 18?

Featured Replies

Hello there i was just wondering could i get insured on a mk3 polo gt coupe at 18?

I will of been driving for 8 months but no claims as i changed the insurance part way through :)

I will have one car already a 1l pistachio nut so i was wondering is it possible to get a gt at my age and has anyone done it?

+ Does anyone no of any GTs for sale around the £400 mark although i am willing to sell stuff to make up more money to get a nicer example of one :)

Also anything to look out for when buying GTs like common faults?

O and are parts fairly cheap if things do go wrong :)

Thankyou, Joe

yes you will, but it could be costly

like 1500 at a guess, worth getting some quotes from confused.com and the like to get a rough estimate, then go to the specialised insurance companies, adrian flux e.t.c

common faults on GT's are same as any other car, look for rust in battery tray and sills, pretty much anywhere

crash damage, any panels that dont line up as they should do or the bumper grill at the front is wonky

see how it runs, it should be smooth, not jerky, no whines in any gears, good GT engine has just the ticks from the injectors when running right, no knocks or taps

a whine in 5th is common due to oil starvation i think, so its worth a check

ones sub £700 tend to need a bit of work...

i had a GT when i was 18, great fun.

I got quoted £1300, as a named driver for a GT with 1 accident and 17, standard GT only though. Shame I cant afford one at the moment.

when i was looking at insurance when i was 18 it was only about two hundred more for a GT

if you can afford it do it!

I got my GT for my first car at 17, was paying about £1400 for the first year then about £950 for the second year. That was with quinn with all the mods declared.

cheers for this i think I'm going to look into a mk3 gt coupe well thats my ideal option it doesnt have to be brilliant i just need the engine to run sound anyone no of one around southampton for about 400?

aye your looking around the 1500 mark for the insurance, and probs be lucky to get a decent gt for 400. . .as jackblack said

I've just got a GT, paying £800 on my own policy with 1NCB, got my parents as named drivers on my policy, lowered it right down

at 18 (three years ago now) i bought my first gt....was paying 550 to insure it in my name. you can pick up a good gt for £500......obviously ones on the "scene" tned to make more money as thats were people who cnat find them tend to look for them

scrap the idea of paying anywere near £1500 for insuring a gt....i loved mine when i was 18.....but theres no way id have payed anywere near that for one!
