i have got another g40 and it came with a set of 15" avanti alloy wheels i once owned on my polo gt mk3

i had no spacing on the gt and only had a little scrubbing on arch when cars was full etc plus the suspension was no good and lowered 40mm

I am having the opposite problem on the g40 it is rubbing both sides on the shocks and the hub sticks way out form the centre of wheel much more than front

i am wondering as i dont think my axle is bent could the drums be off a different polo or something it just doenst seem right at all on both sides i spaced out a bit but its still bad

I've got G60 steels on mine and dont have any issues with them rubbing on the shocks but they will catch the arches if i hit a big bump at speed!

the car is in my lock up but my thing is i didnt have this problem with polo gt and same wheels i did have the usual rubbing on arches over big bumps like you though kust confused me a bit

they could have been fitted with 200mm drums off a passat or later golf models, these effectively give you a wider track as well, a way of spacing the rear slightly without the need for stub axle spacers or regular wheel spacers.

nope they have the same tyres i sold them with and the gt was running standard gt drums cause i remember replacing the brakes in them when i had it i think the problem is the drums on the g40 does anyone know if mk3 drums are any different from a g40 drums ? i know i can space them and get longer wheel nuts but just want to be sure my axle is ok i will be replacing suspension etc and all of this as soon as i gather some dough cheers
