My mk4 failed its MOT yesterday :(

Both suspension arms need replacing and the gaitor (?) has split. :(

No advisories though which I suppose is a good thing. x

yeh it will be your cv gaitor... i bet it was just the wishbone bushes needed replacing but they couldnt be arsed to change them so they decided to replace the whole arms.....

Well he hasnt done the work yet. He said that if I were to just replace the bushes, then the ball joints would prob need replacing too in a couple o' months. Thought it might be best to get the whole thing done to save on labour etc.

Around £250 to get it all done including the MOT but I dont really know of thats good or not ?

The ball joints are seperate to the bottom arm.

When I used to work at Audi we used to replace the arm due to the labour of changing the bush worked out the same as the extra cost of a new arm.

got the same problem with my 6n,just bought 2 new wishbones inc ball joints for 45 quid

Mine failed on exactly the same thing last year. Fairly easy to do if you know some one handy with tools :)

I think its a fair price, but not sure.. I paid less but my mate did it..
