in short, drill hole in back of headlight cap, feed wires through, find safe place to mount ballasts, connect wires and hey presto.

i followed the instrcutions for fitting to my megane, and probably took me about an hour?? now i can do it in about 20 minutes

no no no,

if you look they're advertising h4, h7 and h1 and in the different kelvin temperatures.

all you do is purchase them, and then send him a msg saying which fitment you require and what temperature...

just trying to save you some pennies

Can get hold of these kits too, whichever you need. Come with a full 2yr warrenty & next day delivery. Little bit more expensive but better quality & reliability, those who have bought from us can vouch.

Ebay ones only come in one beam type, if it doesn't say HI/LO then you wont get one, there that price because they are a single bulb, they are also illegal as you have no HI/LO beam function, and unlike the BI-Xenon ones there is no housing to create the hi/lo so you just get a nasty glare that blinds other road users, chavs round here have Ebay ones and they are a pain in the arse as you cant see fuck all after they have roared past you and the police are now pulling in anyone with HID conversions and testing them for HI/Lo function, beam pattern etc. I've been pulled twice this week and both time not an issue, got an apology 2nd time as it didn't show id been pulled this week.

Get one from little man, I've had mine for a few months now and not had any problems plus it only took me 10mins to fit, they are really piss easy to fit.

Is high/low beam the same as full/dipped beam? So if I was to get these HID's for my mk5 I would be okay with a kit which doesn't adjust from high to low?

You'd need a H7 single kit for your Mk5, you can fit them without any problems even though they're not hi/lo, you'll still have your dipped/main beams. The only thing is, with them being a single kit, your dipped beam will be converted to HID and your main beam will remain Halogen. This puts people off at first, but what you've got to realise is that HID's are so much brighter than Halogen, you'll never need to use main beams again, purely because it makes no sense, unless you're flashing someone.

Oh, and what temperatures are legal???

Some people say 6000K is the most popular as the higher you go the bluer and dimmer the light, the lower you get bright white @ 4300K (the brightest), then golden yellow @ 3000K.

The kits are illegal to fit to non-projector style headlamps, no matter what temperature. But as Cymro posted, he's been pulled twice with his and they've not said anything, even appologised the second time. So long as your headlamps are correctly adjusted, the beam scatter isn't any worse than Halogen. We don't condone fitting them illegally though.

The company that sells special bulbs to work in Halogen headlamps i'm unsure of, I didn't think it was possible to be honest, not without some modification of the headlight. Theres a few cars out now that use HID from factory that don't have projectors, but I dont think they'll be standard Halogen headlamps, they've probably been specially designed to use HID's.

4300k is the brightest, and the whitest. 6000k is the most popular, it's 50/50 white and blue. Anything over that gets very blue (8000k, 10000k, 12000k)
