What A Difference 5 Years Can Make...

Featured Replies

Well, it all started March 2004 when I became the owner of a relatives 1.3 CL Coupe, which she'd owned from one year old. A blank canvas:

Once I'd sorted out it's little niggles, work began on the bodywork:

I also started tidying up the engine bay and having a tinker:

Interior started to change too:

Eventually I sorted a set of wheels:

By 2005 I had a licence and along came the exhaust, and the engine bay got a bit more bling:

I eventually sourced a Polo GT interior too:

I was generally happy with things for a while, except maybe this front splitter :?:

By Polo Show '05 things were at this stage:

In 2006 I thought a change was in order, so I got the mirrors colour coded along with the spoiler and forked out for a new arch and sill trim set:

Lowering followed a couple of months later after spending ages collecting parts:

Then later that year I waved goodbye to the SPi lump and thanks to Steve (86C) I got my hands on a GT lump:

Polo Show '06 saw things looking like this:

I did a bit of tinkering on the GT lump before January '07s Rolling Road Day:

Borrowed some shoes:

G40 rear axle eventually got fitted:

Fitted Corrado front seats and a false floor:

And that pretty much brings you up to date:

Apologies for some of the smaller pictures, I only had a 0.3 Megapixel camera phone at the time

Thank you!

You would think it would be somewhere near finished by now, but it's never the way !

Thats the way, a QP has to look

real nice example, White with half coded bumpers is spot on, and the BBS suit it a treat, personally i'd have it a little higher, and with a more subtle exhaust for OEM goodness

magicians secrets, but where did you get the VW stickers from? never seen another set.

G40 rear axle eventually got fitted:

I was the same, well, still am, that's why a lot of the pictures are taken off various phones I've had, and some cadged from other people's show pictures

I spotted a set on a Caddy Sport a while ago, and tried to track a new set down. Eventually someone was able to make my first set up for me (unfortunately water got underneath them and they peeled themselves off :-(), but thankfully managed to get hold of the current set!

Five years! Time flies! I remember your early threads on UK-Polos, it's come such a long way since!
