New Drivers Insurance

Featured Replies

ok, i'm turning 17 next month, and obviously i'm looking for a car, preferably a mk4. just wanted to know where my limits are in engine size, as at the moment, i've only really been looking at the 1 ltr, but i've seen some guys round here with some bigger cars. just wondering if i am restricted to a much smaller engine, or if i'll just get completely robbed by the insurers if i get a bigger car.

hope you can help ;)

you'll get robbed. i got my 1.4 when i was your age but even though its faster than the 1.0l i would still have got a 1.0 for the cheaper insurance. i ended up paying 900 on my mums policy.

ok so I'm sort of in the same pos, passed my test lastweek, brought a mk4 polo (silver) 4 days later which is a 1ltr

The cheepest insurance is with directline at £2008.95 (roughly)

Now I have been on a ped for the last 2 years and and in april I got my 2years no claims.

Direct line say I can only use 1 year on the insurance but I must have the 2 years, So the 2 years ped insurance is only 1 year on a car...(gay)

Which drops to £1585 fully comp..

Go for the 1.0, being young the insurance is going to be at stupid prices for the lowest ltr you can. Hope its helped.

I've Got A 1.4 I Turn 17 Next Month Too And My Insurance Is Only £200 More Then A 1.0L

I drive a 1.2 9n1 and my insurance is 1080 or something on my mum's insurance.

However, I have a ridiculous excess fee, like 750 or something as it's an extra 500 schneiblies for young drivers on Directline.

What's more, you can't mod with them until you're 25!
