So i was thinking of putting an alarm system in my mk3 as i live in the slightly rougher part of town, but does it have to be thatcham approved to effect my insurance quote?

I have seen a decent looking hawke alarm sytem for £35 but its not thatcham approved so i dont know whether to buy it or splash out on an approved one.

Also does anybody know if hawke alarms are any good?

'cat 1' is the one, you get a certificate with it to prove, they're about £300+

has to be fitted by thatcham aproved dealer... they do certificate n you send it too the insurance company...

i have a thatcham on the missus mx5 but no cert. i got a discount for having an alarm, but not as much as if i had the cert for it.
