Driving along into a nice long tightening but fast bend on the B4312 went into it and in the blind section of it a lorry doing a three point turn into an entrance, I hit the brakes and swerve knowing it was too late, somehow missed the front of the lorry and ended up in the hedge/ditch, car coming behind me wasn't so lucky and went straight into the lorries passenger side.

My cars survived but has damage to the passenger side sill and underside (passengers footwell has been pushed up slightly) + tracking is fubard, the other car is practically unrecognizable, it was a fiat ciquento now its a pile of scrap.

Sitting in the back of the police car all i could think was how did i miss it, police surveyed my skid marks and came to tell me that they had found that my passenger side locked before my drivers pulling me into the ditch, i was still there when they moved the remains of the fiat and they couldn't find any skidmarks, the driver didnt even have a chance to brake.

I've been sent home from work after the police explained what happened to my manager. still shaking and trying to take in what happened also been told that the other driver is in serious condition and that the lorry driver has been taken in for questioning.

accidents do tend to shit you up for a bit! i had a snooze on the m42 a couple of years back drivin my work landrover and woke up in the back off a lorry unit. all involved were ok, but it still shook me up quite a bit.

ringing my boss wasnt fun...

Managed to calm down enough to look over the car and managed to knock the passenger foot well back with a sledge hammer. lol.

Sill seems ok, just a bit battered, tracking is out but not as bad as it looked wheel arch lining clips snapped. Not sure if the suspension strut is ok, looks like the spring isn't sitting properly on the plate. lower arm is undamaged and the mountings seem ok.

Going to get it checked over by the garage tonight.

whats going to happen insurance wise like the damaged parts?

Insurance will just write it off the minute you mention underbody damage, lucky enough id had been talking to philJ and about a new suspension kit on friday anyway. its just that the work has turned into a need to be done instead of an upgrade. Scraped some paint off my wheels to now that I've cleaned the mud off them.

I nearly rear ended a stopped car at 50mph on a dual carrigeway in my mk3 and the only reason i missed it was because my brake bias wasnt working right so when i slammed the brakes on the back would go out so i just missed him by skidding into the second lane.

Thats what usually happens on small cars because of your weight on the drivers side.

i know how u feel mate same thing happened to me a couple years ago, 60 mph limit round a bend and theres a mini doin a 3 point turn, luckily i was in my tigra which could brake alot better than my cinquecento which i also had at the time lol, anyway managed to miss it and call the driver a couple of my thoughts but it proper shit me up.

at least you are ok thats all that matters in the end and as for the truck driver he should have had some warning signs placed before the bend so hes guna be in trouble

Well i was doing over 60, so i suspect he was as well but that bend can be taken at 70+.

Police have been round to re-check details as the lorry driver said my car was a Golf but they showed me pics of the scene and i just thought that could have been me but some good news is that the fiat driver is awake and going to be ok.

Next time you drive round there, I bet you will drve slower, I did when some lady hit me from behind, was more cautious.

The Fiat bloke is lucky, they are so crap but protection when you crash, glad he's awake though
