hey all,

just looking into a decent car alarm for my mk4 valver.

been told by a mate that viper are good but i wanna know the truth so any help would be awsome.

also i wondered how much it would cost to have it all installed?

clifford are overpriced and over rated,,toad are meant to be pretty sweet and quite reasonable

as above, i've fitted, removed and bypassed many alarms. cliffords seem to have 'issues' and the older models have coloured wires (haven't seen any of the latest ones) which are easier to trace, they also tend to drain the battery on many cars.

toad/sigma are better in the aspect that all wires are black so harder to trace but i've known a few to suffer siren failure.

I've got a Viper alarm and have had it for 2 years when i got it fitted on my Corsa C. No problems what so ever and does the job really well ie. protecting windows, doors, boot and so on.

The version above mine comes with a pager remote which vibrates and tells you if the alarm has gone off and also what part of the car it is that has triggered it off. I can get the pager remote for mine if i wanted to for £50 but selling car soon so no point now lol

are they easy to install or is it a whole week long job?

Don't buy a Scorpion, they are shite!

had viper with pager cost £400 let me down a few times Immobiliser would not turn off the one nigh set off and would not stop going off so i riped it out and tuck it back would never reomend one

but not all bad got clifford 650 G5 new one and had old one on my calibra and would reomend them never let me down

doesn't take too long to fit an alarm. left my car with the shop for a few hours which included fitting my sound too

clifford and viper are both made by the same manufacturer directed electronics

viper alarms are americas biggest selling alarms

an alarm is only as good as the person who fitted it

most clifford problems were with the old G3/4 series having problems with antennas failing and the old dual zone microwave was notoriously known to cause problems (this is no longer an issue with the digital ones available now

the newer G5 ranges are brilliant to use

also a lot of the problems with cliffords can be down to user error for example not being shown correctly how to use it

I'd also like to know, for remote start swell! thats uber cheap.

i have a viper alarm and it was my m8 that fits alarms and systems. he sugested it.

got a viper alarm for sale in the classifieds section...£100 posted, brand new.

i agree, the g 5 stuff realy great clifford is the best realy low curret draw on the cat 1 stuff pluss all the cool goodies like anti high jacking remote start etc etc i have a cat 1 g4 with remote start head light activation boot pop cenral locking (seletive like the new vws) with no problems at all. stay clear of sigma kak in my expereance. get a g5 you wont regret it. it should allso take a decent amount of time to fit and test and demonstrate (very important) not just chuck it on in a couple of hours.
