****please Help Alternator Problems****

Featured Replies

I have a 1991 MK3 polo and the alternator belt keeps snapping. I have replaced it many times along with the alternator a couple of times as well. Its not wearing out but just snapping cleanly after a bit of time. I am really not sure what to do, has anyone got any ideas? all suggestions really welcome. cheers James

Thanks very much for the advice but i have been through a couple of alternators and they are all snapping belts

perhaps you are over tightening them?

could 1 of the mounts be bent so its catching on the cooling element on the alternator ??

Are the pulleys in line?

Hi guys cheers for all suggestions. Yes pulleys are in line and the belts are not too tight. As for it rubbing on the engine it is all clear. Still very confused!
