Young Driver + Mods + Cheap Insurance :)

Featured Replies

Does anyone know an insurance company that won't throw their prices (even more) sky high when you tell them you wan't mods?

I drive a 1.2 9n1 and really want to just do the neccesities, rims/lower but i'm with directline and they won't let you until your 25!

Also i have a ridiculously high excess of 750 or something with them as a young driver (been driving a month so far).

I will go on my mum's insurance to reduce price too!

Any help would be grately appreciated :)

Tom

Seats

Exhaust / Other Engine Mods

shouldnt really be insured till i'm 21, but its only a couple of months away, so they did it for me

give them a call / go on their site

Cheers!

You say that they won't insure until you are 21? - or a couple of months away ;) haha

I mean I'm not going to do anything thing big yet eg. supercharger like yourself..

Try Admiral or Brentacre. I'm either going with those or HIC when I renew my policy.

the ins companys charge you based on where u live, age, age of vehical, ect...

when i 1st passed i had a on a 2000 plate 1.1 saxo.. std.. ins was with endsligh fully comp.... and was over £2000..

if you have an older car..they wont charge you as much due to its market value.

your besed bet is just not to say it's moddifyed... and not drive like a speed freek... then inquire about the mods with out saying u done them!

Dont bother with Direct Line..

As you said you cant insure mods until you're 25, and if you go on as a named driver you can only use the discount if you renew with them, not with other companies.

They're cheap for alot of young drivers but from personnal experience they're shit and it works out more expensive overall.

Wow, do you mean you can only use the no claims bonus with them? :|

Tom,

Adrian Flux are able to cover mods and replace them like for like in the event of an accident. Also if you in the future wanted to add cosmetic mods it probably won't cost you anything as our insurers only charge for performance enhancing mods.

But the car would have to be registered to you and the insurance in your own name.

Dan.

likewise, funny how they dont mention it in any of their adverts isnt it!

i was with them for 18 months, then went onto another company 6 months ago, had more problems with direct line recently when they charged me for renewing a policy that i never took up with them

they'd given 2 policies the same policy number, and charged me for it!

I'm confused on there website it says the limited age to insure is 19 not 21... is it 21 because of the supercharger or something?

Andy

I'm insured with HIC, they seem ok, i would rather have gone with brentacre as they seem a great bunch but they couldn't compete with HIC's price so i went with them!
