Arch Rolling Techniques

Featured Replies

Hey everyone

Wanted a bit of advice on arch rolling

I have a selection of tools here with me ...

Heat Gun

Panel beating hammers

Panelk beating blocks

I am looking on rolling both front and rear arches out on my mk2 polo .

The front arches need rolling out around a inch due to the width of the front wheels .

Any info would be greatly appreciated as i really dont want to be calling out Arch Enemy to come and wrip a hole in my arches .

I know i m going to loose alot of paint on the arches but this isnt a problem as the car is a project and garaged at the moment .

Cheers for any help people :-D

make a diy arch roller, there was a pic of one on that baby blue 6n build thread. contemplated making one myself.

How much is a proper tool anyway? Know anywhere good to get one?

there like 150 quid for a good one, make one out of a widow maker, a spacer and a spindle, theres a guide somewere

Going to give it q go thisafternoon with a heatgun and various panel beating tools .

Will see how i get on and let people know the best technique i devise.

Might be having to give Arch Enemy a call though as i cant justify spending £150 on a tool to be used only on this car ..

Cheers Guys and Girls

i have a arch roller tool, cost me £280 from frost. i have hired it out before and dont mind doing so again. £20 a week. would have to be localish so you can collect. it gets expensive if you start adding in postage.

that said, the way i done this before is take a deposit of £250 plus £20 a week.

if anyone is interested p/m me. i am in uxbridge (not too far from heathrow)

Right i have had a go at rolling one side with the good old heat gun and bodywork hammer technique

I dont think i have done to bad of a job to be fair .

I got shouted at by the woman across the street "Pack it in banging" unbelievable ! She is going to have a lovley suprise when i start banging at 8am tommorow morning when i am cracking on with the other side ..

Dont get me wrong its not the most atteactive looking work but once i get the arch trims back on ... (Somehow :? When there is a will there is a way  ) it will look alot better

At least I'm legal now too hey ! Car could be on the road in a few weeks 8-)

Before Piccys with a rather large amount of wheel and tyre showing ...

Something me and my father have had for christmas ..

Pretty much standard looking at the mo getting a cage and seats in it and stripping it all out like .

Its not going to be anything special but it is a rear engined 2 seater and a ball to drive .

There are classes within hillclimbing and the class we are entering the cars have to be p[retty much standard really .

Makes for superb racing though . Although engine rebuilds ect are ridiculous in price iff you want someone who really knows what there doing to squeeze that extra bit of power out of the alreaddy around 160Bhp lump
