Where Can I Put Speakers In Mk2?

Featured Replies

as the title says

I need ideas of where I can put speakers in the car other than on the parcel shelf

The is no room in the dash as all there is is air vents

Unless I could swap the side vents with mini speakers

Door cards don't have speakers holes either so I might have to make some.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Or if you have added speakers could you post pictures of them for me to get ideas

Would be appriciated

thanks

Alex

You need to do something like this.

I have done something similar more like pods that take bigger speakers although aesthetically I reckon they look a bit big. Never got round to getting an amp which doesn't give them there full potential.

what about that vent looking thing to the left of the dials on top of the dash, isnt that a speaker?

Correct, it houses a 4"6"(I think there that size) speaker that in a standard polo is wired mono usually to the old Bauplunkt radio. They are usually all perished.

There are two 4"6"speakers sometimes found at the rear which are sometimes wired in with the front. You could probably fit some new good quality coaxil speakers to the rear and the front and just run it straight from the head with something that would be usable and totally stealth.

I would never put speakers on the parcel shelf.

Unfortunatley not

On my car they are air vents which is a bother

Would there be a way of swapping the vents for the speakers is I took the dash out sumhow?

Cheers

I have been told people put the speakers on the parcel shelf but have a cover of some kind to give a better finish

I might consider doing that

Thanks for the advice everyone

:D

I have/had 2 6"x9" and a 12" sub in my parcel shelf but its not a good idea.... :?

If you have a center console a speaker can be mounted in that but apart from the origional locations it will have to be some custom work to get a tidy looking sound system......let us know how you get on.

i had a centre console where someone had mounted a 5" speaker on either side, pointing into the footwell. Not the greatest for sound staging tho.

I'll give the centre console a go for one speaker and mate try and do something behind the hand brake

Thinking about it sounds sketchy but worth a shot

Need to get the car running first

Might help aswell!! :p

I'm planning on a simple little boot build in the back of mine, behind the light cluster is enough space to get a 6x9 either side, or some 6" speakers, and I'm going to try and squeeze a 10" sub each side as well at the bottom, that way you can't see anythng from outside the car, and i still have full use of my boot :D
