forget any other fluid based option, this takes it off in about 5min and thats that!

hey clarke, i removed the side strips off mine the other day and for the life of me couldnt get the stuff off...

as i'm sure it is the same for you, here is my guide...

after you pulled the plastic strips off, you are left with two lines of black foam, although a lot of this black foam may have come off when you pulled the strips off...

now, the key is to realise that the black stuff needs to come off before you do anything else, so the best way to remove the black foam is to pour a kettle of hot water onto it to soften it, and then scrape away at it with a credit card or something similar.

once the black foam has gone, you will be left with the glue-type adhesive that is really stubborn to remove.

i tried extensively with both hot water, petrol, degreaser (haha), and soapy water... none of this worked.

so, i went and bought some autoglym intensive tar remover... it costs £5 from halfords which is a rip off, but i thought i'd give it a go.

wipe the surface completely dry if it is wet.

you use a clean cloth to wipe the tar remover onto the sticky stuff, making sure you put plenty on... then leave it for a few minutes, and use a credit card to scrape away the sticky stuff, it should come off very easily, mine did. some stubborn bits might need another going over.

^^^ that's mine before autoglym, notice the kettle, and water everywhere!! haha.

i hope this clears it up for you... i've only just finished doing it so it's fresh in my mind, so if you need to know anything else fire away.

cant beat a bit of chrome in the kitchen

i used a little white spirit on a cloth to remove all the sticking stuff, it was fine with the paintwork as i washed it off well, dno how it myt affect others though.

carefull with the kettle I'm sure someone said it made their red paintwork go pink

i used autogylm tar remover stuff was really hard work dont bother with it got fed up and got some petrol in and it was soooooo much easier come off in no time

p.s. to make sure you dont end up high as a kite dont sit in a confined space with the petrol can next to you

aaah gutted man.

awwww... thats kinda putting me off removing my bump strips now!

hmmm now do it do it? dont want that happening to me

last week spent 2 hours using petrol thinners and c cards removing black sticky stuff on passenger side

blisterd fingers and it still was not perfect

went and got a fudge wheel from local paint shop and removed other side in 5 mins (its the best tool ever)

no marks to paint oh and it smells great too!
