Drink Drivers Look In... - When You Get Your Licence Back....

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a way i can find out what points I'm going to have on my licence when it comes back or a way for find out the conviction code, ie: DR10? As i'm going to need it for getting insurance, or will it be on the paperwork that will get sent back with my licence?

Also, Has anyone on here that has been convicted of DD done the 'Drink Drivers Rehabilitation Course' that takes 1/4 of your ban off? If so what insurer did you go with that recognises that you have done the course?

Cheers, Alan.

(Anyone reading this please don't think of me as an irrisponsible idiot that left a party with 3 mates and drove home and hit a tree, as it was nothing like that)

i think you should have no points if their was no accident or anything like that , as i had none on mine when i got it back , as for the course inform the insurers of the course , but i have just been saying my ban was 15 months instead of 20 months .

good luck with the quotes alan (mine have been about 40% higher) , the course is a real eye onpener , i`m not going to preach , i learned my lesson big time .

when my mate lost his license had was made to retack all his tests.. (he was told he got his license back... but they didnt metion he would have to do all the tests again to get it back.)

polo_d is correct.

My dad was done for DD just over a year ago. He was banned for 18mths but did a course and got it down to 12mths. Had to see a shrink to show he didnt have a drink problem and then go on a course for a couple of months.

No points, but obviously he now tells his insurance he was banned for 12mths for a DD conviction. Still gets insured on his Jaguar XJR Coupe 4.0 SURPERCHARGED for £250 as he is 52 with a silly amount of NCB.

Obviously he is a bad person and i judge him at every chance haha

Mate about five years ago wrote off his car when drink driving, Only got his license taking off him for so long, then got giving it back without having to sit his test again.

Lay off him, he probably realises now how stupid it was and will have had all the shit thrown at him at already so no point in being the big man and trying to call him up on it.

WTF

You being the almighty.

Does it matter if his excuse is "I was wasted at a party then my mates came up with an idea, so we got more beer, jumped in the car and whet to go driving over grave stones but was unlucky and got pulled over on the way there."

I never have, because i like owning fast and multiple amounts of cars on my driveway and 2 garages - all thanks to a clean liecence.

well i have no excuses as their is not one for drink driving , and i have learnt my lesson , having no job and no money and not being able to go for a drive , its been the worst time of my life

now just you all think of this ,

HAVE YOU EVER HAD A SKIN FULL ? DID YOU DRIVE THE NEXT MORNIN ? AS 7 PINTS OF STELLA TAKES ABOUT 19 HOURS TO LEAVE YOU SOBER ENOUGH TO DRIVE , NOW TELL ME YOU HAVE NOT DRUNK DRIVEN ! HONESTLY !

Ok. The guy will know he's done wrong by watching the amount of money he has to pay for Insurance rise.

Now can we keep it on topic please.

Cheers

I use to be notorious for driving the next morning after a night out when I first passed my test, Backroads all the way home. lol I solved that problem by not drinking anymore

Aimed at me or polo d?

Was a friday night, left my bike at home so i didn't ride it after a drink, at a mates house had a few shots of sambuca, walked to the shop, saw another mate having problems with his bike, was in a communal garage area, so didn't think it would be classed as a road and felt fine so i jumped on it, went up and down the garages twice, to see if i could work out what was wrong with it, and two police on push bikes road into the garages. and it went from there really. Had 37 in breath, so TWO over.

Not really being an idiot is it, if id have thought it was classed as a road then i wouldnt have done it.

Anyway...

No crash or anything like that, just 12 month ban and £43 fine, they said if it wasn't obligatory for drink drivers to get a ban, they wouldn't ban me.

I've done the course and had a letter from the DVLA saying i can now apply for my licence, was just wondering if my licence would come back with something telling me if i had points or what not or how i could find out before hand...

oh what bike was it and did you put a crash hat on ?

Alan.. - You wont get any points. But you will have to tell insurance companies for the next 5yrs that you have been banned for DD for 'x' amount of months.

alan thats unlucky , did you know also that you can get banned for having the intention to drive , one of the guys on my course was banned for getting a box of fags out of his car , the cops saw him going in to his car and nicked him for intent to drive under the influence .

CG 125 - No i didn't, and yes if id fallen off i could have killed myself in the most unfortunate event, again, i didnt feel it necercary as i was only going to go up and down the garages a couple of times.

Hopefully not, but as it was his bike and not mine - No insurance for the bike, and no helmet.

Yeah, the same for if your on a ban you can't be sat in the passenger seat of a vehicle with the keys in the ignition if there is no driver present. Its very lame, but it does all make sense lol

Its an eye opener to say the least, if insurance wasn't going to be sky high i wouldn't have minded so much to be honest, lesson learnt.

For anyone that done the course or knows someone that done the course - Did you/they go with one of the insurance companies on the list they give you? or find a seperate insurer cheaper without the acknowledgement of the course?

to be honest i did not even look at the list , as i was trying to find an insurer that would cover me for a moddified G40 with the DR10 , which was a right pain to find anything in a reasonable price range or to cover me . so just go for a good hunt about if you want to insure anything nice or modded

to be honest i did not even loo.........

Who did you go with mate? And how old were you if you dont mind me asking?

Andrian Flux do mods don't they? and they were on the list...

thats why the cops did you for it
