How i miss that car already.

But just some info if you've had this car before, reckon its been around here a bit.

what changes you've done to it, any problems you've had!

Ideas for the polo though, try and squeeze my 15" corvette style wheels on it, perhaps the normal pressed plates, mop, tidy up the rust a bit etc.

Cheers

just tested these on, thoughts?

ABCD0011.jpg

yes get all 4 on :p

get all four on then u will defo know if it will work

the checkered boot lid looks great!

I recognise this loon, think it was adam p's old one. Not too sure about the wheels though, i like the small stretched look, but each to their own. If you like them then go for it ;)

Look after her buddy. I bought it when I was 15 and spent all my money doing her up. Not much of what I did left anymore I don't think, but the boot lid (which it actually had when I got it!) will live on.

Oh and you might want to check out my 38 page thread on the wee beastie: http://retrorides.proboards86.com/index.cg...5937&page=1

And my photo album....

Problems I had with her.... had a habit of eating wheel bearings, cv joints and tyres when running that low /\

She used to be bloody reliable, would start on the key every time winter or summer :)

bit of a thread hyjack but howd you get your front end down? I'm supposed to be down 60mm on shocks and springs but its no where near

That was a measured 110mm down on standard on custom coilies. It was pretty much riding the bumpstops though and was bloody impractical.

Ahhh good to hear from you mate read alot from your 205 threads! (bit of a closet 205 fan, was my first car!)

gonna keep her tidy as possible, patch of rust bottom of windscreen is gonna be sorted, arches etc.

the plastic arches are here, got ripped off by previous owner? running some 14"s, must of been some duff offset!

one of the vynal patches is peeling a bit, will sort that.

any idea where the front end damage came from? looks like it came into contact with something.

its now running a re profiled cam, which i'm thinking of taking out, and a bolt on k&n, standard air box going on asap. Idles a bit wild atm so that thread helped, Cheers

dont have those coilovers sitting do you? its on the red springs and standard shocks? their leaking, doubt'll it'll pass its next mot with them, although its rock solid and doesnt bounce at all.

fabricate those yourself?

got the yellow rear? shocks, single headlight grill, right front wing, some seats, and stuff with it.

and that silver gear knob still exists! found it kicking around on the floor in the back.

when did you sell it bud?

Cheers!!!!!

By fron end damage do you mean the wing? I have absolutely no idea how it happened, it had already happened when Kris (owner before me the first time) bought it looking like this:

polo1786.jpg

The coilies I did myself, sold them on a few months before I sold the car. I'm not sure whats happened to them, the shocks went in them and the lad swapped them for shocks and springs i think.

Did ben change the springs? When i sold it it had 70mm springs on the front and 40s on the back I think.

One of the yellow rear shocks is dead. I managed to damage it while fitting it at some point and it killed the seals. I did tell ben that when he had it IIRC, just through them in as they were cluttering the garage! Single headlight grille is the original. I take it ben kept/sold the buckets and its the purpley polo seats you've got? I picked those up for nowt when i needed to carry people in the back!

The silver gear nob i turned up myself as the stick was damaged and the original kept pulling off. I think i've still got the original here actually, but i dont think it'll got back on as i had to cut the top of the stick off.

I swapped it for ben's AX GT back in september :) Sort of missing it, but at the same time it was time to move on!

EDIT: Is that a new dent I spy above the drivers side rear arch?

I swear i see that black vento in london 1 night? I was in my mates grey g40.

looked sweet!

Looks like a good start for a nice little project

Loving the Mk2 Loons i have one myself 8-)

I've still got the coilies, sitting in the garage at the mo need new shocks both sides, I'm running an 80mm shock and spring kit now.

Going to be selling the coilies, so if anyone is interested PM me, also have rear shocks and springs from the 80mm kit, so a complete set if need be to put a mk1, 2 or 3 right on it's arse!

How's the hill climbing going adam?

Front shocks are available on their own from Phil for around £50 I think.

hillclimbing has been great! Just planning this season at the moment :)

nope, bit of damage to front bumper, grill, a very front of passenger wing.

i believe so, its down 90/100mm now? had a quick glance and looks like its weeping, and looks like its maybe a standard shock?

ahh right! haven't checked them yet tbh! they like the philJ ones?
