My Car Just Got Confiscated

Featured Replies

I remember the police when i was at school, in year 11 i think..

There's a motorway tunnel right before our school entrance, full of graffiti and shit, with fenced-off grass embankments going up the sides..

Few of us, about 8 were wagging last 2 lessons after lunch, it was fully hot summer, playing footy in the road (empty, not a main road) in front of the tunnel, managed to kick the ball over one of the fences..

So a couple of the lads opted to hop the fence and get the ball back off the embankment (the tunnel was like 40 foot high...)

Just our luck a bloody unmarked cop car drives through

gets us all, and the 2 lads, and shouts bla bla.. calling us twats, wankers, dick heads... i mean we were 15 years old and just playing footy, not mugging old women or smoking crack..

Just one of those cops, full of his own power, thinking he can talk to a bunch of kids like full-on criminals..

Its no wonder people, especially young people, have so little faith in the police...

I'm starting to think whether the police are actually here to help us

i went to the police station today to ask about the incorrect seizure form and she said we wont deal with you today, only monday to friday 9am to 5pm. they immediatly assumed my car had been seized due to no license or insurance.

I think that the police are more undrstanding towards hardened thieves than they are law abiding citizens!!!!

I think we are all missing the point here.

Not being funny here, but too many people on this forum think they can do something wrong and it not be a problem.

Yeah, i have illegal wheels.

Yeah, i have illegal plates.

I will just get fined... I'm happy paying £30 every few weeks if it means i have pressed plates.

Dont act suprised when the police get bored of handing out £30 fines left right and centre.

Personally i dont think josh is a pussy. He broke the law and paid a fine. The police made a point and he wont be making the mistake again.

Stiff suspension, illegal plates, poking tyres.... whatever the excuse for impounding, he had a car that was illegal. end of. And to be fair he has paid the fine and sorted his car out.

Next time a policeman wants to give it a once over it will end with a 'thats a nice car' and he can carry on with his journey.

Joel... I'm not going to stereotype kids on scooters.... so i dunno about the first incident you had... but second time you got pulled.. you were doing a 40 in a 30.

Maybe its harsh that you are having a bit of hassle getting your car back. But if you have done something bad enough to warrant getting your car impounded, dont expect a taxi to pick you up and your car to get a valet.

You broke the law... its the police, not enterprise rent a car.

i think the real issue with these two cases is the way the officers (never say constable when you get pulled incase you stutter! lol) on the scene dealt with it.

copper number one

I've been pulled doing *insert silly speed here* on a 60 limit back road by a copper who followed me, at the same speed, for about 3 miles and pulled me when i came to a 30 limit (which i slowed down for).

he basicly said it was a bit silly because the roads were a bit greasey and he didnt want to see me upsidedown in a tree on fire (his exact words lol) did the usual checks over the radio, asked to see my licence, had a chat about what id done to the car, then when he got a call on the radio confirming my details, again said to just calm my driving down as he didnt want to be telling my mum i was dead.

fair play to him, he could have had me arrested for dangerous driving, and id have been looking at a ban no questions (i was going some!), but he chose to just give me a bit of a lecture, but in a friendly way, which i agreed with (i was driving stupid fast for the conditions!).

cont...stubble number two

other time id stopped, in a layby opposite a street light on a main road, at about 2am on the way back from the girlfriends cos i was tired. seemed like a sensible safe place, and after having a big accident a few years ago because i fell asleep while driving, i dont drive when I'm really tired!

i nodded off and the next thing i knew i had someone banging on the window shining a torch in my face. i wond the window down slightly (not really knowing who it was) and he put his hand in on the top of the glass and said hed break it if i didnt open it fully! i wound it down and he asked why i was sitting in a layby. i told him i was tired and he asked if there was anyone in the graveyard... i said (rather confused tbh) i had know idea and he started going on that he had a dog in his car and if it found anyone in there it would bite them. i said i was on my own, repeated why i was there and said if he wanted to let his dog go i didnt care. anyone it found was nothing to do with me. he then asked totally out of the blue if i had any canabis in the car. i said no why do you ask and he said "becasue you look like a drug user!" (admittedly i do a bit! lol and as he'd just woken me up i was a bit confused for a min) then he asked who i sold it to as well! i asked why was he accusing me of drug dealing, and again he said i looked like the sort. i said well I'm not, would you like to look round the car? and he said no cos id be arrested if he found any (surely thats his job...). at this point i asked him again to search the car and to let his dog round it too. again he said no cos id be in trouble if he found anythin.

he then started asking why i had the car stripped out, i said to make it lighter and he replied with "so you can get more lead in there?" i asked, still politely despite loosing my rag a bit, what he ment, and he then accused me of stealling the lead off the church roof with the people he was still convinced i had dropped off! i actually laughed at this. he started to get more agressive and said it was illegal to have a car stripped out. so i said no it isnt, my car is fully legal, mot'd recently (i know it can be overturned), and all modds declared to my insurance. he then said if he was traffic he would confiscate it. so i asked him to call a traffic officer out to look over it. if it was illegal i wanted to know exactly what was wrong so i could put it right. he then said "i dont want you to loose your car".

i said if you believe the car is illegal, and i am stealing lead and dealing drugs you should arrest me. i have done nothing wrong, and would like you to be fully satisfied with this, so would like you to call traffic out to look at my car and search me, and the car, and the graveyard with the dog. i said i understand if he wants another officer to come out and watch me while he looks round the graveyard, as in his shoes id want someone to make sure i didnt legg it. i said dont mind waiting for other officers to arrive because i am still feeling tired and dont want to drive at the moment incase i have an accident. again he asked if i was tired because id been smoking pot, so i said i was happy to leave my car there (wasnt really! lol), get in the back of his car and go with him to the police staition to have a drink and drugs test (i gave up the illegal stuff a few years ago, and hadnt had a drink for about 3 days). he said it wasnt needed, so i actually asked him if i could have the test, as he didnt seem to believe a word i was saying.

eventually after about 45mins of him accusing me of everything (i think trying to get me to react so he could use his batton, which he had his hand on the whole time despite me being in the car and never being aggressive in any way towards him apart from laughing at the acusations), he said dont stop there again cos it looks dodgy, if i feel the need for a rest stop in the industrial estate round the corner, where its dark and out of the way!

i told him i tohought the whole thing was ridiculas and asked for his name. he wouldnt give it to me and said he didnt need to. when i told him that id written his number on the back of my hand he said that didnt matter because it wasnt his jacket! i laughed at him again, told him it was total bulshit and that i would be reporting the shoulder number and police car reg number the next morning. he said if i did id be pulled every time i was seen as apparently "all police in march are good friends and dont let scum like you get one over on them" at this point i told him to get a life and drove off.

admittedly i didnt report it as i was too busy at work all the next day and really couldnt be bothered with any hassel i might get.

i do however call the local police staition if i need to stop and sleep (sometimes do stupid long days or nights at work and dont get home till late so it happens every now and then), and tell them some or all of the following:-

my name,

age,

a brief description (usually making myslef sound a bit more attractive admittedly! lol),

address,

driving licence number,

the car make, model and colour,

the car reg,

my insurance company and when its due for renewal,

when my tax and mot are due,

where i am,

why I'm there,

approximatley how long ill be there,

then ask them if its ok to be there or should i risk having an accident and just drive home? or is there a better

place i should stop for a break? lol

sorry for the HUUUUUGE! rant but its something that really pisses me pff about the police force around here!

What a top story

yeah top story mate....sounds like a complete idiot.....your a legend for putting it to him straight....

i was still a bit nervous, as like we've seen the police can take you car for no apparent reason, and at the end of the day they kinda do have more power than you do!

but i was 100% sure i was doing nothing wrong (well99.9% lol) so just asked him to prove his acusations.

obviously if you get pulled dont give them grief, but stand up for yourself if they're being an asshole. if they're fine about it, and/or you have been doing somethin wrong, the best course of action is just to give the old yes sir, no sir, i know I've been very bad act. KEEP you COOL!

i now make sure I've got a pen and somethin to write on and note down everything said if i get pulled, regardless of the attitude of the copper. most understand why when i tell them I've had hassel, and most will even sign it to prove its whats been said. there is a form you can ask for even if they find nothing wrong (cant remember what its called but its like the stop and search ones), just saying you were stopped and let go. can be handy if you keep getting pulled for no reason.

i have just read all this and i just think this is some nexttt fukkdd uppp shittt :|

wthhh I'm actually just baffled...

jus out of curiosity if you modd you are car e.g coilovers and alloys or waeva and you dont tell your insurance and then the police pull u over and ask you questions about it can they do anything :?

cheers

sieze your car due to no insurance

mods not declared = invaild isurance

when this sort of thing happens you should just take your phone out and record the shit the police are giving you. surely when you take that down the police station they will lose their badge lol

Is that a serious question?

if you get asked by the police just tell em its declared by law the insurance companies cannot give out details on your poilicy and personal information

alternatively, declare them on your insurance and then if any copper want to be an idiot you can be confident there is nothing wrong.

not worth risking driving without valid insurance.

I declared my alloys- cost an extra £20, and thats including an admin fee. For the sake of a few quid its not even a matter for discussion.

i dont think there insurance will hold information is the pigs are after you though...

personal or not, if they think youve done wrong and ask your insurers, your insurers will give them the info

the police are a load of wankers

the police are a load of wankers

what a stupid and immature answer!!

not all police are "a load of wankers", some times people are just unfortunate to catch the odd one or two people who arent decent people

i can 100% assure you, they do not teach police officers to be any different that the every day person, if your a law abiding citizen i guarantee you have no problems.

god comments like that piss me off!!!

BSJ1 has a bit of a chip on his shoulder just now with regards the police....
