lowered my car 60mm the other week and i had a look last night and the chassis is resting on the driveshaft which hasnt been doing me any good when i go over bumps.

Any ideas why its like this?

either you've got the wrong springs or you've put something together wrong as I'm down 60mm and my driveshaft isn't near the chassis

something definitely not right. lots of mk3s 60mm lower with no issues

hmmm, fuck... well I've had to cut part of the chassis out to get it to sit right now. How would i know i ahve the right kit?

any ideas what could be wrong with the kit, as its just shocks and springs and doesnt really sit overly low so i dont understand how its managing to rub on the driveshaft. this has really pissed me off now, seriously thinking of fucking the damn car off altogether.

i was 90mm down and it wasnt touching the chassis

ok, had a chat with neildubGT...my dad calls it the chassis but its actually the inner arch...

I dont think its down 80 on the front from what i can see, the kit must be right as it all bolts up correctly and I've checked everything

anyone got any ideas?

That's 80mm down and had no issues, apart from the exhaust on big speedbumps..

thats how it sits now, would we say that was more than 60 on the front? is possible that phil or the factory have boxed it up wrong i suppose?

that looks about right for 60/40 (don't forget you have balloon tyres so it'll have no arch gap like people run lower profiles have) get some pics of how the driveshaft is sat in relation to the inner arch (with the wheels on the ground).

these are mine on a 175/50/13 on a 7" rim and thats down 60mm at the front:

even if you were down 80mm (lowest philj does) then you still won't be low enough for driveshaft to inner arch contact, the relaxi taxi was on chopped springs from what I remember and that was hitting the drivesahft on the inner arch

tis a bit wet for pictures etc but I'm getting the inner arch rust treated and painted at some point this week so ill try and get a picture then, it makes no sense, I'm positive there msut be other people with these problem, everythings in place and tight.

Had a chat with a few mates and the only thing i can think of is that the engine mounts are worn and its causing the shaft to be in the wrong place.

Could be if the driverside mount has sagged causing the gearbox side to sit high thus making the driveshaft sit high but it'd have to have sagged a lot.

Also if the car has been in an accident it could have bent the chassis slightly causing the inner wing to sit lower as it it attached to the chassis rail.

I'm positive it hasnt been crashed at any point, its very tidy and would have been one hell of a touch job to disguise. everything looks fine, it just rests on the inner wing slightly, or did until mr grinder came out haha! Oh well, ill have a look at the engine mount and get some pictures.
