I want to paint my calipers but whats the process of doing them. is it simply clean with wire brush and a few coats of hammerite thn job done or is it more complex?

cool. so wash off calipers then scrub with wire brush then paint with blue hammerite thanks mate

or you could pop out the pistons, fill the cavity with newspaper, mask up, and get em sandblasted and powdercoated...

Glad someone has asked this! Thats what I am doing the weekend, until I get my new wheels that is!!!!

yeh thats the basic process, try not to get any paint on the discs or pads it will burn off but you brakes will be abit poo to start with otherwise, i used high temp paint aswell but thats only because its all i had can't do any harm though!

I've cleaned many a set up with a wire brush and hammerited them or used caliper paint aersols.

its definatly worth popping the piston out, a compressor is ideal for that but you need to make sure theres something soft in front of the piston to stop it getting scored when it pops out (itll come it with force with a comp), get them sandblasted and powdercoated, refit with new seals and slider pins and fresh grease, copper grease the back of your pads and the hub face of your alloy, and jobs a good un, your brakes will last you many a year after that without chipping, flaking or generally looking piss poor after a few months road use

I've just done my 280mm calipers yesterday ill put some pics up of them if u want. they do look good though without soundin bigheaded or whatever. ordered some s-line stickers off ebay to stick on side of them. wire brushed them and sand papered them. then cleaned excess grease off with brake/clutch cleaner then painted with heat resistant paint. just a word of warning though, not been patronising but you do know not to paint the guides and bleed nipple, piston etc dont you?
