Would You Notice If Your Exhaust Fell Off?

Featured Replies

I was following a pug 306 earlier , and came up behind him and saw something dragging under his car, and then noticed it was his exhaust, kept folowing him for around 2 miles with his whole exhaust dragging behind the car just attached at the back box , his car was juddering all over the place, then stopped at a roundabout (he was in a diffreint lane) he went to pull away the exhaust then got caught round his rear tyre and ripped the rest off just leaving the back box attached and was still unaware he has lost it and carried on, i went a diffreint way,

Surley he must have know from the scraping noises . i know when my backbox kept falling off as the mount was bent i heard it stright away and stopped........

sorry no pics was driving on my own :(

What I've got to know from driving a Saxo is that with French cars things can fall off at any given moment, so indeed, he may have thought nothing of it.

My exhaust has fallen off three times, well the tail pipes and back box drag across the floor and I noticed straight away everytime, even with music on.

Saying that mind I was behind a land rover on my scooter about a year ago and his backbox completely fell off pulling off from a round-about and he kept on going :retard:

his back box stayed attached to his car (dont know tho :retard:) the whole pipe section from the manifold was left on the road it must have just snaped off from the backbox

i would have said yes, he must of known there was an odd scraping noise.

Mine old system has fell off on a round about, coming off a speed bump, on the dually whislt changing lanes, and randomly fell of round town.

I waslways keep a spare rubber and a bit of speaker wire to tie it back up with incase.

I've love to catch the nice person in the van whose exhaust fell off and smacked into my car at 70mph, arsehole

same happened to my mates VTS 3 times, and another friend twice

He noticed. On my bros old bmw 318 just the backbox fell off and the noise in the car was horrible.

One of my tailpipes fell of the Golf and i didnt notice until i noticed just the one tailpipe after work.

Thats two German cars.

Hell ye. The manifold to cat spring linkage on my saxo broke at 6am in the middle of town was fucking hilarious. I drove around for a week with no backbox on the polo no one batted an eyelid, especially as a lot of cars have stupid exhausts on round here.

I have cable ties holding it up at the moment.

Some people are so stupid sometimes though, I had a bit of a blowout on the land rover once but it was slashing it down and there was no way I was stopping to change it. So I'm driving along and the whole motor is down by about 8 inches on one corner, there is rubber flying off everywhere and smoke pouring out of it, but yet other traffic is beeping like crazy and flashing and shouting, thinking I hadnt noticed. So i put the hazards on, but it didnt stop the retards. I was merrily driving along just praying what was left of the carcus didnt come off the bead.

He obviously knew full well his exhaust had fallen off, but didnt care, Because if you cant fix it at the side of the road and you need to get where you are going then you keep going.

You can hear it, my old GT used to do it all the time. VW exhaust repair panel on my current mk3 and it hasn't fallen off once, yet.
