Combo or courier, either way so long as they're not in a state, there's not a lot to worry about. The engine on the ford's a bit more primitive, but that means it lasts better, so long as the belts have been done.

Mercedes-Benz Vito 110CDI turbo diesel

Not for £800-900 you won't, well, maybe a rusted out P-reg.

Love vitos, but the problem is, being a merc van, they rust like an old ford, and when they break, they cost.

not in his £8-900 budget!

Keeping it vw, how about a caddy? load space is taller than an escort but may not be long enough?

Yeah, but would you want it? I haven't seen any vito worth having for less than about £1300.

T4's are getting pretty cheap, probably bigger than what you want though.

yer there Grate

his ones a 150 and it can carry 1.5 tons

All the RAC ones are, essentially, it's the same suspension as a 190 (had 2 tonne in mine and it was fine... got the weighbridge tickets to prove it), they just aren't classed as that because they're SWB. The difference between the years is in the engine. Up to an N-reg they were none-turbo, then turbo'd, and as they got later, the turbos got bigger.

When they hit an X-reg, you had to be careful not to suck a micra in when on boost :)

I've got a ex postie combo van and they're pretty reliable! mines had a few niggles lie the clutch and the fuel pump ecu but they're bullet proof! you could get an older one for around 800 -1k mark

MK3-5 Transit is THE ONLY van to have. Get an older N/A one without power steering and it will never die.

Mine was featured in Custom Car ;)

Gotta be a caddy then when you get some money saved maybe :-

yer get a tranny

i wish i had the money for a caddy lol... they look lovely like the one above ^^^^... i think ill end up soming like a vauxhall combo, ford courier or poss a renualt kangoo

transits are proppa good tbh. really nice to drive too, feels like a car, even more so that an escort van.

Get the 102brake T4 8-)
