Hybrid... On a Disco/Rangey chassis perhaps? Wheelbase certainly looks to be longer than 86"/88"

Yeah, normally the chassis. Along with the engine as well sometimes. But not entirely sure myself tbh.

One of the tutors at college had a 90 hybrid, he did tell me what it all was etc but i cant remember now.

Disco looks a beast, just needs a snorkel :p

The Body Is on an chopped 87 Range Rover Chassis. Didn't really realise know you have said it that does make sense.

That helps cheers it does have an engine upgrade to a 2.5TD. My guess is once these modifications have past MOT and been forwarded to the DVLA it becomes a Hybrid.

Tommo32 is gonna love you...

and theres a 66 series II in my garden 8-)

Lol, Hybrid is the term for any coil sprung land rover chassis that has had a series body stuck on it in order to run it on a tax free series log book lol. The chassis/engine/axles in question are often robbed. The classic is to rob a 90, stick a series tub on it with a stage 1 v8 grill to make it look old and run it on an old series log book lol.

Thats not strictly true but its what happens 99% of the time. Unfortunatly the Po are clamping down big time. A lot of guys being forced to either scrap their vehicles or get them SVA'd, which is very difficult. Hence why you can pick these motors up for next to nawt on ebay, cos everyone on the scene is crapping themselves, just like the poke impounding on here there are guys on offroading forums being told that their lift kit is unsafe or they are running the wrong chassis.

Is the engine a 19J 2.5 TD or a 200 or 300tdi?

Lol just read your post again, I take it its running a '58 log book then? But its on coil springs, with a 2a/3 rear tub and doors with a 90/110 defender front. a 90/110/defender engine (and assuming its a lt77 gearbox from 90/110/defender with apropriate lt230 transfer)

But they have cut the sills off to make it look like a series1.

Personally I would get some series steel wheels and get a stage1 v8 grill and remove the headlight surrounds (unless its already got that stuff done, cant see the front), get an old looking steering wheel on it. Basically get it looking as old as possible.

This is a series one lol...

The main issue is the wider body you have, if you notice the series one has flat sides, whereas the 2a onwards had the round bit half way up where it got wider. So you might be better off getting a tax free log book off a 2a or an early series3 so it looks less suspicios.

Its got a 19j 2.5 td in it. Since buying it I've been told these engines are crap They drink there gutless and they crack the piston's not sure how true this is. Do i have any thing to worry about with the ol police. It does have all the changes noted on the log book.

i feckin love Landies :D

theyve never been my cup of tea, i like cleeeeeaaannn!!

me dads a different stroy though, at one point he had a LWB and an SWB series 3, and 3 series 2's

Its got all the changes noted on log book? That is totally awesome if so, and that log book will be worth a mint, it must have been done a long time ago before they tightened up on stuff like that. But none of it is series 1 so I would still take care if I were you.

Yes the 19J was total crap. Gutless and unreliable. But if it runs then run it till it breaks, which might be ages yet. Then fit a 200tdi. they are invincible.

Suppose I had better crack some pics up...

lol @ 'pt cruisers are wank' and that defender looks a bit beaten :)

hahaha.

off-roading looks awesome.

if its a hybrid it might be a 100 inch WB. wich is rair i think coss most where 90. landrover made a hand full with a 100inch WB and where one of the best 4x4 thay made..

Here is a frontal pic after plunging through an ice pond taking out my head light. As you clearly know so much more about these trucks than i do what do you think its worth. Its totally milatry inside no heater two seats a speedo and a steering wheel. Chassis is very solid. Your thoughts on the engine where my intensions exactly (Bang) Then the 200tdi. I rather like the defender front end look.

Nah its not 100inch. all range rovers and discoverys are 100in. Its ok for off road but 90 is better. Comp safari and the like use 100 inch cos its more stable at speed.

As for its value if its alright mechanically I would say anything upto about a grand, but its impossible to say. I bought my 90 for £1500 with a 200tdi, rollcage etc.

Ha, It was because at leeds 'american muscle' meet PT cruisers with chrome plastic all over them kept turning up. Everyone is perfectly welcome but they got there early and took all the good spots, then started pumping out megga chav bass. Unless your cars worth looking at park at the back. Anyway, we haven't seen awt of em since i wrote that on my truck (which was parked at the back BTW lol).

Yeah I beat it up a bit, but you get to the point off roading where if you want to get any more hardcore you have to bash shit. Anyone who claims to be the don off road and has a strait set of wings is talking bull lol.

:crybaby: Oh dear i paid £1500 MOT til Oct engine is good though it rattles along 60mph ok. I have covered 300 miles in it now its still good.

Is it normal for the windscreen to need deicing inside.

I've asked him if he couls help but he says

nope but tell him the car also has bell house beather and timing cover breather and gearbox and transfer box breathers

I cant speak for the 19J engine but none of the other landys I've fitted extended breathers to had a timing case or bellhousing one. Just gear/transfer box.

I wouldnt worry about what you have paid for it, get out there and enjoy it.

300 miles without a single fault is impressive. If it does another 100 miles without anything breaking then i'll give you £2000 for it lol, thats why i had to get rid of mine in the end, couldnt afford another car as a runaround and couldnt rely on my land rover without spending each weekend underneath it.
