Declaring Coilovers

Featured Replies

If you cant afford the insurane dont mod it... end of

He never said anything about not being able to afford them, why jump to that conclusion straight away? He was just asking for tips on declaring them and what other people do.

Tips on declaring them.. here's my tip

1. Pick up the phone and call your Insurance company

2. Explain to them that you have coilovers on your car and that it is lowered (insert mm here)

3. Find out how much more it will be

4. Pay it

Why would you need tips on it?

Insurance companies will find anyway not to pay out.. So why give them a reason?

I'm in the same boat as you I've bought the coilovers with endseigh aint foned up yet but aint had them fitted yet altho I'm 18 i will be telling them about them but i dnt think i will jump in and say how low they will go if you no wut i mean

FFS

This is the most retarded thing since the whole number plate debate.

Are you stupid? Do you think insurance companies are stupid?

If you lower your car 40mm you tell the insurance its 40mm.

If you lower 100mm you tell them 100mm.

If you fitted a 2.0 20v engine, you wouldnt tell them it was a 1.8, cos thats kinda half way, would you??????

Its makes me mad that people are so keen to admit they rip of their insurance. ooooh so clever. you saved like £25... you have a crash, what about the poor bugger who cant get his car repaired cos you aint got any valid insurance? You would be on here crying your eyes out if it happened to you.

I would like a 16v polo. I checked out the insurance before looking at them (cos it seems sensible to check insurance implications BEFORE buying something......) and i decided it was more than i wanted to pay and maybe more than i could afford.

So guess what? I didnt buy a 16v. I'm happy in my 8v.

Would you suggest i buy a 16v and just insure it as an 8v?

Anyone in this thread who has said to "let them know..." what do you want to know? ring your insurance and ask them... its like a five minute job.

And last rant- Johnyady_sv..... "I'm with endsleigh mate, and 18 year old and mods undeclared at the moment could you let us know how you get on if you declare? as I wanna declare them asap"

Congratulations on making the most retarded post i have ever read on this forum.

You want to insure your mods as soon as possible? you REALLY want to insure them ASAP do you?

Endsleigh Insurance: 0800 028 3571

Call them. Tell them what your mods are. Thats the easiest and quickest way to be covered. It will take you only a few minutes of your precious time.

My piss is officially boiled.

Best rant for a looong time!!

Its true though, just declare them, most places wont even charge much extra, dont be a tight arse!

That is a very well written rant A+

My gti was lowered 40-50mm and I'm with axa and they raped me an extra £350 :x

 they must have big windows! ^^

I called my insurer, Kwikfit, to see how much it would be for coilovers to be fitted. First off, when I said I was thinking about getting coilovers and getting a price the person on the other end of the phone went "whats that?" ha!

So after explaining and a phone call back it increased my policy £1000? Now if that isn't rapeage i don't know what is.

Kwikfit seem canny gash tbh, had an alright quote with HIC so I'm gonna cancel my current policy, maybe say i have "sold" my car then take it up with HIC who understand what coilovers are ha!

P.S, love the Rant (Y)

Had a bad day yesterday- some little c*ck sucker keyed my car, not feeling too well, maybe its that time of the month... thus the rant!!

I'm first to admit i hate paying so much for insurance knowing your never gonna get it back.... but thats just the way it is.

But seriously tho it does my head in! I am glad that the vast majority of people on here are sensible. Nice mods, nice cars and all declared and totally above board. Respect.

I guess thats the difference between a vw forum and a vauxhall forum!

Here's how you play 'can I afford my insurance if I wap on some coilovers'

Ring up the insurance company...

Ask how much extra it'll be...

If you can afford it.. whack them on... if you can't - don't

Simple...

I happily cruised in the mile high club for a year 'till I could get insured with Brentacre, besides even if I did have mods undeclared, I would never be retarded enough to openly write it on a public forum....

try brentacre or adrian flux for mods. :)

I'm not gonna declair mine, afraid it might go thru the roof someway.

My piss is officially boiled.

I insured my coilovers that evening mate, No need to take out your bad mood on a forum thread.

Not in a bad mood at all fella!

Fact is the rest of us pay the price cos they wont.

Nothing personal

try brentacre or adrian flux for mods. :)

You should be more afraid of being screwed in court if you hit someone mate.

It's great up here, on the high horse 8-)

My piss is officially boiled.

that, is by far, the quote of my whole time on the forum. epic!

agreed, yet another pointless thread.

Therefore... it's only yourself you are cheating if you don't declare.

Unless you hit someone else...

If you hit someone else thats a third party claim, which is what he said they have to pay! you get fuck all tho according tho that :S

I'd say declare, much safer and yeah, peace of mind knowing you wont get raped if you crash

My bad- i read it wrong

okay the conclusion

i have been on the phone this past week

trying to get quotes for 100mm drop before i buy the coilovers

turns out they can only allow 40mm without changing my policy

but i dnt wanna loose my no claims so I'm waiting for a phonecall to see how much 40mm is guna cost me

and then i guess ill roll 40mm (roughly ;) )

and then in august wen my year policy is done i can declare 100 and hit the floor

cheers for the help guys

sorry to anyone I've pissed off

glad you got sorted... and 40mm is a good start! once your renewal is due you can look elsewhere and slam it!

Dont worry- it wasnt you doing the p-ing off!

my sisters bf didnt declare his.. got a rear ended crash and had to spend all the day taking off his mods he hadnt declared.

Costing him a days pay

he rang up and they said itd be less than what he lost at work

Just declare them so you dont have to worry

it shouldnt be much

just THINK
