Hi,

Ice just replaced the centre section of my exhaust because the flexi bit was blowing and its now fine but for some weird reason the car wont start on the key, it doesnt even try but it does bump start, its just really weird how it was fine before and hasnt ever let me down now all of a sudden it doesnt work, I've checked all electrical plugs, fuses, wires etc, the battery is fine could be starter motor but i just dont understand y it would do it all of a sudden. Also about 2 weeks ago i changed my air filter because it was minging checked it again yesterday and its full of oil, any ideas??

Need help asap as this is my everyday car for work etc.

What car?

if you car bump starts but dont start with starter, somethings up with the starter.

but you need to know if you gettin a feed to you starter when the key is turned to the startin position!

Could be the ignition switch. Common faults on mk3 & 4s, but we still dont know what car were talking about

sorry its a mk3 coupe, I've just got a starter from the scrappy today, going to fit it tomorrow, but when i took mine of there was only the earth and live on the same bolt and the two spade terminals had nothing on them but the one i got from the scrappy today had a wire coming from the plug thats next to the lamba sensor plug so maybe thats why the old one wernt working, ill have to have a proper look in the daylight to see if i can find it, just done see how it could of came off :s

Could it have got pulled off when you did the exhaust

all sorted fited the starter from the scrappy even though all i had done was pulled the smaller red wire off, Does anyone know why it would be chucking so much oil into the filter?? also some morings it turns over really slow and sound like its not going to start but if you just keep hold of the key it will adventually but then other mornings it will start straight away even after a frost, could i need a more powerfull battery??
