Wiper Problems - Mk3

Featured Replies

Right, so last night my windscreen was froze up pretty bad.

I accidentally knocked the wiper stalk, the wipers were both froze and went nowhere.

Then i went to use them today and the one got stuck like this...

Then when the other side went up again it ended up like this...

lol!

I can move this one around freely now unlike I could before, and it keeps doing this every now and then.

What's broke? And how do I fix it?

Any help would be great as I cant really drive with them like this, have to keep getting out and adjusting it.

Cheers in advance.

get hold of a new wiper notor is the easy way to sort it i have 1 forsale lol

Try pulling/turning the caps off where they pivot to expose the nut that holds them on. It could have come loose when the motor was trying to turn against the ice. My wipers went crazy like this ages ago and it was just the nut had come loose. Repositioned and tightened and it was fine!

Otherwise if the motor still turns I'd suggest checking the linkages under the bonnet are done up tight (and not broken!)

You may have saved me a tenner and some petrol.

I'll have a look in the morning.

undo the bolt, re-adjust and tighten bolt.

I've had it happen too! Aint funny at 70mph in the rain on the motorway!
