Widening / Smoothing The Loon ( New Piccys Post 1 )

Featured Replies

Righto Stage 1 is complete of the widening and smooting of the loon

The arches have been rolled and flared rather drastically around 40mm all round with a bit of a techique used by my local Arch Enemy Bloke 8-)

Here is a little something else i have changed on the car recently too

Stage 2 and then 3 are still to come ..

Booking it in at the bodyshop on monday to have a blow over after me and my dad have smoothed here there and everywere .

Alot of welding to do and a minimalistic skim of filler here and there .. No its not rusty just a few bits and pieces to cover up iff i must .. ;)

It wont be running arch trims anymore as the arches are that far out i dont have a chance in fitting them back on ..

Thats why were going smooth 8-)

Gettign myself some thinner tyres for the front and then saying good bye to a coil .. Looks perfect on the rear just needs to go down a tad a t the front ..

I love this car, it looks sweet on those alleycats. I'm suspicious as to whether ill still like it without the arch trims though. Can see it looking OTT. However ill await the pictures dude!

what was it... cut arches, roll arches more, weld metal into gaps, smooth off?

Aye he managed to pull them out an unreal amount .

I had toyed with the idea myself spoke to him and said i thaught about doing it this way .

He said iff you want me to do it that way then i can .

He was slightly reluctant until i told him it was going in for a lower half respray in a few weeks anyway .

He was bob on with a welder too so did that for me aswell

Top bloke

Really does look the nuts though to be fair . I'm very happy with the job and would recomend the bloke to anyone .

Thats iff your going to spray the car afterwards of course

who did it?

Looks good Stevie, what did he do with the inner rear arches as those cuts look very deep (all the way through both skins?) did he weld the inners up too? Wouldn't want the inner arches leaking, it would soon destroy the rear of the car.

Cheers guys i cant wait till its had a skim of filler here and there .

Couple of things going on before it goes to the bodyshop :-D

Vik- (Euro Derby) Bothe inner and outer arches are all welded up and undersealed/Hammarite'd

McLOVIN-It was done by Rich from Arch Enemy he is based around the midlands are

Jay135-I was a bit dubious myself but after the arches have been rolled and flared the shape is just too nice to cover up with trims . I had to agree with the bloke who did it when he said it would be a shame to cover them up . I really cant wait till it comes out of the bodyshop . 4+ week waiting list though :-(

Anyone got any ideas of things that i could smooth ?

1- Smoothing flared arches in

2-Smoothing boot recess between lights

3-Smoothing arial hole

mate this looks like its going to be awesome good job!!!

I'd get the little lines below the rear lights smoothed off.... n poss roll the edge on the bottom of the rear end thesre like a little splitter edge on the bottom of the car if u know what i mean... probs quite hard work for very little effect but i guess its the little subtleties that make the difference!!!

hows it going mate nice thread, by the looks of it you wont be taking the 8s off me lol no worries and good luck with the outcome!

Cheers for the comments guys .. :-D

Keresh - Dont think i would get the 8's under the rear I'm going to have to get some camber shims to get these to stop rubbing after the arch work

G40 AD - All the stonechip is being taken off the front valance and rear end below the bumpers and its all being smoothed 8-) Tis a good idea

Looks ace mate!

lol no worries mate haha

Gives me time to sort all the other little bits out :D
