A tow pole you mean?

Machine Mart do a pretty good one, costs about £12.

Thank you :)

Or do you mean the bit which screws into the bumper so your car can be towed?

yea the bits you screw in but now iv been told you can use them and rope or something or do you still buy the hooks to screw with this release pressure thing to tow cars wow I'm sorry I'm really no help lol!

there should be one in your boot by the spare wheel maybe?

Rope isnt ideal for towing a car, or legal anymore i dont think?

Rope is legal 'to a place of safety'

Same with ridgid bar. But all a massive grey area.

Oh really :) i neva thought to check there i will look when i get in tonight cheers guys, i mean the car sonly going up the road not even a mile i think but I'm not sure how shot the gearbox is, i might be able to do it in 2nd gear all the way but will have hazzards on. Its going to be taxed and insured anyway and i will have my mate with me to either in front or behind!

me and my mate still use rope when we need to move a car.

Should be ok if you're only going a mile. I'll ask my other half where her tow eye bar lives. Mk3s are clipped to the side of the boot with the wheelbrace and i'm 99% sure the mk4 is with the spare wheel.

Rope/strap tows are asking for trouble unless you've both had a fair old bit of practice (I carry one, but only for when I want to hitch up and get somewhere safe fast rather than spend time playing with the traffic setting up the proper stuff). Solid bar isn't strictly legal, but far safer.

In a mk4 towing hook should be with the spare wheel in the bit that holds the wheel brace etc

I've been towed with a rope many times and it is always risky, just gota concentrate

when i had my escort diesel, i snapped the cambelt 20miles from home! The AA were gonna be 2hrs so my mate dug an old ratchet strap out the boot of his Rover 827 and tied it on. He towed me home at 70mph with only 2ft seperating the cars! I followed through several times on the way home that night!
