hey guys

i want to give the old engine a good clean out internally as oil blacks up really quickly after an oil change.

I'm not sure about if i should use an oil flush solution or just do a double oil change (drain, will with cheap oil, run in for an hour, drain, change oil filter and drop some good oil in)

Any suggestions?

I've used flushes and had good results , depends how bad you think the insides are?

if using a flush concerns you why not run some asda special cheapie oil for a few miles and then drop it out

yea engine flush them cheepey oil then drain cheepy oil and filter a fit new oil and filter

Just to throw a spanner in, no need for a flush just use decent oil with regular changes. If you do feel a flush is needed then just use engine oil.

what if the head/sump is full off sludge from years of neglect...wouldnt the flush help remove that?

I've used FORTE engine flush and gained 10psi of oil pressure, id recommend it but each to there own

just dropped the original oil out and it had bits of (what i can only describe as) gravel!

sump plug back in and put some cheapy oil in, just left it idling off to itself now!

will drop that oil in about 10mins, and new oil filter and oil in!

You shouldnt gain any pressure, it should lower it as the galleries are opened up. I was working on a transit the other day and it hadnt been changed since it was new. It was 5 years old with 80,000 miles on it! it done all the valve rocker hydraulic tappets in and the oil was solid. It had seized up. I changed the oil, dragged it up the estate in gear to turn the engine then done another oil change, then another, then another with flush, then put another load in. It was still black but a lot better than it started LOL.. It still clunks like a goodun.

see, av used engine flush at oil change time, and found that it made my tappets really noisy

ad just change the oil, put cheapy stuff in...blast it round for abit, then change the oil again

that should flush it out good n proper

I personally swear by the double oil change
