thanks

is that the 1.6 from the mk4 polo ??

can you fit a golf mk2 1.8 16v gti engine in

or a vr6 or 20vt ??

a golf engine probably wont fit without tons and tons of work and its not worth it in the end as the car will handle like poo!

just stick a 20vt in the back - job done!

i thought of that but i wanted it in the front

is a mk2 worth spending a lot of money on tho ??

It will never be worth as much as you spend on making a big power polo. Marty bought the rear mounted 20vT for 7 or 8 thousand but i had 20k+ spend on it, he has now totaled spending to 11k with buying the car and getting more power from it.

I still cant believe how many times this is asked.

If you want that engine buy a Golf.

I think the point people are trying to make is that if you're serious about putting a bigger engine in and not one of the few who bothers putting big blocks in, your choices are the 1.4 ABD or the 1.6 ABU/AEE. You could fit any engine into it with enough time/money.

is the 1.4abd the mk4 16v motor ??

and how much would that cost to do ??

the 1.4 ABD is from golf mk3 iirc, generally put in with gt head, injection etc. Thread on it in the FAQ section

1.6 AEE is from mk4 polo

AFH is the mk4 16v engine, heg123 has this in his berg arched mk2 with bike carbs

what would be the best engine to put in it ??

if you want as much power for your 2k as pos do g40 conversion with modds or go for a 1.4/1.6 16v with modds . their the easier options

but anything can be put in with a cheque book

can you fit a vr6 in the front of a mk2 ??

not without extensive chassis leg mod's and a lot of custom fabrication. Then you have to fit it under the bodywork and work out how to make it handle even slightly well.
