First off, just want to say I'm a VW head, but i also enjoy other makes, and have owned Fiat/Toyota etc in the past, I'm not biased! Just need to vent some rant energy here :p

A guy on a local forum was asking about getting banded steels for his corsa. A few people replied and posted pics of banded steels on a corsa etc. To me in this example it just looks wrong :-

Why put euro style banded steels on a white corsa, that has m3 style skirts, jap style front bumper, horrible chavvy mirrors, a terrible looking spoiler and boot? Fair enough everyone is entitled to thier own opinion but its being referred to as "euro" which i dont think it is. It looks like a mismatch of parts, styles, and colours. Just plain wrong!

See it all the time now, people posting up pics of "euro bora" and its a bora, lowered on RS6's with no other modifications, does my head in.

Am i just an angry chav hater? I dislike corsa's for the most part, but i have seen nice examples (GSI's namely) so its not purely Vauxhall hatred here.

The guy himself NEVER dubbed it as euro. His motto was, and still is, "Fuck 'em" as is the way I see car modification. I see it as being an individual and doing your own thing, and it's apparent that he has. I actually love the car, especially in the way it stood before it was sold on. I'm sure you, with your "euro style" guru-like knowledge would approve. It's now all nato green sitting on some BBS Splits.

That is IMO the correct atitude to modding, I'm glad to see more none VW euro cars as it will hopefully shake up the scene again. We have ended up right back where we were 3-4 years ago with formulaic cars to the most point.

'chaved' is more along the lines of NON_COMPLIMENTARY mods... ie stupid body kits, wheels to big for a motor, blue tinted lights on a red car, rediculous exhaust... normally on an asthmatic 1L or something! Mods often done for the sake of it, cos people in fast car or whatever have done it.

I think it comes from the sorts of cars that chavs tend to drive. There is no doubting the fact that you often see chavs (or pussy wanabee chavs) behind the wheel of a saxo or corsa modified in this way.

in guessing it would need a bit of work to get schmidt or bbs on a french car. we have it easy having so many nice wheels all ready to buy off the shelf in pcd 100 and other vw sizes..its a bit to easy bolting them on to a vw and calling it euro.

Every car scene has a style,... like the VW style of dropping it as low as pos on small wide wheels, as said above. And the jap cars which is way more performance based e.g 200sx etc Personally i think blurring the different types is cool

And not all Bodykits are on CHAV cars (which incidentally is the stupidest use of the word - a chav is a pikey little shit that breaks peoples stuff starts fights and generally should be excluded from the gene pool - The recent obsession with calling anything we dont like "chav" IS dumb)

Ford USA no but Ford Europe yes it can be done in Euro Style as its a european car

Vauxhall is a uk company but they don't make that many if any good cars

and Toyota is japanese so its a big no to euro style
