Mk2 Square Rear Arches Help Please!

Featured Replies

ok so i have a MK2 square and i plan to slam it and give it a firm introduction to the ground.

I plan to get an 80 or 70mm kit, so the rear arches are going to have to be rolled or what not, because my wheels are beautiful.

Any ideas for this? i will get some pictures up tonight, as i am in college at the moment...

i have a guys number who can do the arches but this wil have to be cut out and rolled up and out and filed back in, quote - £300.

And as for the scaffolding idea... just no.

Thanks a lot, Matt

cant roll breadvan rears because they're flat

so its either the scaffold pole or hammer em over carefully , chances are it will need some minor filler and paint to look right

I took an angle grinder to the lip and everthing clears fine now. No need for rolling so no damage to the paintwork.

if you grind..dont go past the spot welds

i'll get you some pictures for it, my wheels are heavily dished and stick out quite away so this is going to be quite a considerable job. Cheers for the in-put guys.

I've thaught about welding in coupe arches....then back to flat once behind the wheel.lots of work though

if i knew what 'et' was i'd tell you, my knowledge with wheels is probably, 0.

should be stamped on them sumwhere i would guess.

pay the money. its the only way you will ever get those wheels to clear those arches and even then the guy is gonna have to pull them a long way

definitely pay to get them sorted out. breadvans and no knowledge of ET is an epic fail.

I suspect Chip Foose would even struggle to fit wide wheels onto a square.

I refer you to your own post from before

It's going to take skills to make it look good that's all I can say.

From an aesthetic point of view to create your photochop you would literally need to narrow the rear

axle/beam plus other major surgery on the inner arch.

Well, that was exciting.

I totally forgot about my previous post but hey, its the internet.

I know my lack of knowledge is probably one of the biggest epic fails ever, but still, it doesn't effect my love for My car, and the lifestyle that is VW. Yo.

if i were you i'd save that £300, spend £30 on mk1 golf rear arches (about £18 each on ebay from poland) and get some one to weld them in, then paint over and hey presto, fit whatever wheels you like, that's what i'll be doing if i get a square, only difference being i'll only have to pay for the arches, the joys of being able to weld :D

just sell em the rims and be done:)

i ahve some 13x7 mattigs if youre intrested cousl sort a deal

yeah id go for the mk1 round arches ...you want those wheels your gona have to pay

np way any rolling or minor tweaks is gona fix that

Mk I Golf arches FTW

Here's mine

is this what you mean?

LINK TO REAR ARCHES

?

thats the ones

I asked Volkswagen UK about coupe rear quarters, inside and out, just under a year ago - and they were still available.

The correct shape,it wouldn't be too laborous for any bodyshop to convert as they're the correct shape..

anyone know what that splitter is ^^^ ?

thats the one i was trying to find pictures of :D

The front splitter is a MK2 G40 spoiler. :-D

I also had the rear arches "extended" by a bodyshop

on my old Mk2, worth the hassle and looks far better 8-)
