Retailer Issue - Home Bargains

Featured Replies

Hello all

Recently i was sent an £8 voucher from Cadburys (due to a faulty tin of Roses) to spend on their products at a high street retailer, so i popped into Home Bargains yesterday, got a trolley, picked up various Cadburys products and went to till.

Upon the £7.93 bill i gave them the £8 voucher and the cashier calls the manager. She comes over and says we don't accept them, i asked she said again we don't accept them. I mentioned that it states high street retailers accept. She wouldn't give a reason to why they won't even though they have before.

The issue here is that her customer service was very bad and she never said anything like Sorry, we don't accept them. Instead she just ignored me and went into the office, i then asked for the Head office address and number and after 10 minutes a sales assistant appeared with it on some scruffy piece of paper. The faulty tin of Roses was also purchased from the same store. I can't see what the problem is as they would have got it fully refunded by Cadburys included the P&P cost. After wasting 30 minutes which included a 10 minute queue, i went along to Tesco's as the voucher had an expiry date on it and they were more than happy to accept it.

Surely they should put up signs on the window stating we don't accept any sort of vouchers.

I am thinking of writing a letter of complaint to the head office as i often have shopped there for the past 3 years, but the level of service on this occasion was awful. I'm concerned as i may go back in there on the weekend and be told to leave the store as a number of members of staff saw me when i was in there.

Can anybody please advise on what to include in the letter using professional terms and could they ask me to leave if i go in there again?

Many thanks

 Sorry but isit worth it.

Shop else where?

go back and set fire to the place, then you won't have to put up with lousy service, you can avoid the temptation of going back and providing you do it properly when or if they rebuild you can happily go back and hopefully the new staff will be a lot better towards you.

LMFAO!

Serious advice please :)

lol

I hope nothing of real importance comes up in your life otherwise your stuffed haha ....but....

I know having shitty service does make you mad so just write a letter to the home bargains head office and say what you feel...thats all they need. It doesn't have to be professional....just real.

If its the worst thing that happens to you this week il say your doing a lot better than most people. (me included)

I bet the story about the 'faulty' tin of roses is as epic as this story. FFS :retard: If you want 'serious' advice, come up with a 'serious' problem!

To be fair to the staff, if i worked in home bargains, i would be pretty pee-d off as well. I'm on minumum wage. get a crappy uniform, and this fella wants to spend half an hour arguing about some choclates he isnt even paying for...

:disgust: whatever.

The shop is well within their rights to not accept the voucher without explanation.

It is often the case that retailers have a mountain of admin to do and accepting vouchers and processing them etc. is a nightmare as well as the fact that a cheques is issued as a refund for the voucher. In these times of economic decline retailers do not want to get involved in activities that cost time and effort more a case of cash in exchange for goods.

Having said, that manners cost nothing and the Manager should have been more polite and eloquent with their response.

As for going back I doubt they would ask you to leave the store; again they are well withing their rights to do so without any reason explained to you.

I would be inclined to shop at a different discount store...having not been to a Home Bargains in my life I assume they are similar to larger Woolworths Stores so they may go the same way.

I did take the voucher to Tesco's and they were more than happy to accept them. It was also a time issue too as i had to queue for 15 minutes due to only 1 till being opened when there are 6 at the front of the store.

So your saying that next time i go into the store i could be asked to leave and possibly get banned from it. If that is the case i will surely be getting in touch with lawyer as i've done nothing wrong.

Its a fricking voucher for some fricking chocolates!

I feel like i am taking crazy pills

Sorry mate dont mean it in a bad way, ilike i said i just don't want to be banned from the store cos of something minor.

Its been a bad week for me too as the gf i was with for the past year has gone off with another guy and at the same time changing her mobile number and deleted her facebook account.

Fair enough but getting a lawyer to reverse the court injunction banning you from your local Home bargains due to excessive complaining probably isnt the best way to go about dealing with it.

Neither is eating £8's worth of chocolate..... :-)

Hope you get sorted out tho fella.

Plenty more whoe's fish in the sea.

moral of the story...

Home and Bargain/Home Bargains is the cheapest shop in the world... Staff are paid sod all... the 30 minutes you wasted is nothing compared to the time you'd waste following up a problem that doesn't really exist... and more to the point what's this got to do with general car chat?

In my opinion I wouldn't bother doing anything...

lol at this failing... sorry failed thread

But surely they will have to back their case up if they were to ban me, you can't just ban somebody from a shop unless they have done something illegal i.e. theft.

Thanks

I cant beleive we are still discussing this.

I shall not be posting in this thread anymore, as i feel i am loosing my fragile grip on reality.

YOU FAIL IN LIFE. :-D

YOU FAIL IN LIFE. :-D

Harsh but true

I mean worried about being banned from a cheapo store

I work for home bargains in the complaints department at head office.

I'm going to sit by the mailbox everyday and wait for your letter, upon recieving it I shall pass your details on to the arson department who shall call around yours and firebomb everything.

If you survive, I shall then forward your details to the arsing department who shall be round later in the day to make you walk funny.

Pedantry over eight quid worth of chocolate.

I don't even want to know how the tin of roses was defective, although i am ever so slightly curious.

There wasn't enough caramel kegs for your liking was there ?

Surely this should be locked off, no offence, but not car related?

Home Bargains is a deadbeat store, I wouldn't expect sterling service from them.

They're not going to ban you for making a complaint. Perhaps contact Cadbury's telling them that the store wouldn't accept them for their reference? Otherwise get onto a retail authority or similar and tell them about your dissatisfaction.

Don't come on a car forum to ask about something like this, you'll get shot down.

I doubt they would ask you to leave or ban you unless you 'kicked off' when you were there initially.

It's like a Night Club or Pub they have the right to refuse admission or service and as it is private property they have the right to ask you to vacate from it.

However, it was only some confectionary that they didn't want to accept a voucher for no crime was committed by either party...so move on or if you feel that strongly write to head office.

Enjoy the chocolates ;) :-D :-p

Sorry didn't realise this was Club Cadbury, I'll go and register with the proper Car forum's website. So sorry to have wasted your time.... :p
