Lowering 6n Mk4 60-40

Featured Replies

Hi, is there a reason for the 60-40 lowering kits on ebay does the 6n sit lower on the rear or something so 60-40 equals it out?

Would my standard shocks be ok for a couple of months lowered 60-40?

I'm also after some pics of 6ns lowered 60-60 or 60-40 I've made a thread in the picture section.

Cheers

basically the 60 40 kit gives you a nose down stance, (rake). its not that the mk4 sits higher at the front standard.

if your standard shocks are in good condition, they should be fine with the new springs

Thanks for that mate

Also I've just noticed I've posted this in the forsale section :retard: sorry can a mod stick it in the suspension and brakes section please, Thanks

only problem you might have is that the shocks mights bottom out when you go over bumps!

i had that problem on the front of my old polo when i used 60mm lowering springs on the front!

I'm lowered 60mm front and 40mm rear, its a firm ride but not uncomfortable (i think, the missus doesnt agree!)

I bought the kit off a mate and he said it was on standard shocks, and i havnt had a problem yet.

The front looks good, to be honest the rear could do with a 60mm drop too, but at 40mm i can still ge tthe shopping in, or a couple of people without any rubbing. not sure if that would be the case at 60mm on standard shocks.

my polo is lowered 80mm front and back and with 15" wheels i think it sits perfect :) plus with 4 people in the car including me i get no rub so 60-40 should be a breeze just be careful when buying the kit as i bought a spring set from ebay last year for my golf and it didnt sit right at all as he sent the wrong sizes.but when i asked him to sort it out and send the correct ones i didnt hear a thing, heres my polo with 80-80 set up i hope this is of some help

I'm down 105mm at front with 15s and i dont get scrubbing and I've had no arch work :p and back is 90mm :D looks great nose down

A lot of the 60/40 kits will have the fronts fixed at 60mm, though the rears have a moveable clip that allows you to adjust them from 40mm to 80mm. I've got a Phil J 60/40 kit which allows this adjustment. I run mine at 60/60 on 15's and there's no scrubbing of the tyres and it's a firm but back friendly ride. Only problem I have is that I have a stainless cat back exhaust which knocks a bit on the rear beam.

Cheers for the info guys

Dubslife your polo sits really nice il think il go for the 60-60 though as i have a full car sometimes + shopping and i got fed up of shredded up tires with my old golf lol.

Thanks

60/40 on 15's is practical and looks nice, although i do want the back to 60 now :(

I've just got some wheels today the tires on them are 195/50 and there 15 inch would they be ok with the 60 drop?

Also whats the name of the bits of plastic you put on the hub so the wheels fit perfect?

Cheers

Spigot rings and your tyres should really be 195/45 on a 15 for a Mk4.

now then i have a 96 polo and bought a set of 60/50 jamex off ebay (ebayer performance 3000) but my mate has fitted them and it is higher at the back than at the front. he says its coz there are 10 rings like off a golf(polos only have seven) and that it should have less and they sent me the wrong size so does this sound rite? is that who you bought yours from and if so who do you recommend i buy from in the future anyone ?
