i have just bought some new wheels that are 7x15 and wanted the stretch look on them so was told that 165/50/15 was the tyre to go for so i looked for some tyres in that size and only come across bridgestones! anyway got the tyres today and took them along with the wheels to a tyre place just round the corner from my house and they cant get them on is there a special way to put them on and have i been informed of the correct size tyre for some stretch??

You have the correct size (for stretch at least) There is a special way to get them on and not all tyre garages have the means to do so, Best bet is to ask around all your local garages

bead cheater, and a 165 on a 7 is quite abit of stretch, its not huge, dont get me wrong,, basically a burst of compressed air should pop it on. a garage near me had difficulty trying a 165 on a 6.5, (with out a bead cheater) they got it on, but it wasnt a "piece of piss" so to speak

someplaces are funny with popping tyres on like this to give a stretched look1 i popped 185/45s on an 8 no messing! infact the 195/45 a bigger tyre was the one they needed to use the bead cheetah on for some reason.

I got messed around with mine but found a TyreTraders with a bead blaster, popped my 195/45 onto my 9j no hassle.

it all depends on the profile across the width of the wheel, there are a series of humps, bumps and beadstops to stop the tyre coming fully unseated should it puncture, i forget all the names for the different types of wheel tho lol

I fit tyres for my dad on a saturday for some extra dosh and i put a 165 on a 6.5 just like a normal tyre! didnt seem to be a problem at all

like i say, all to do with the profile and also the size, it seems that 17s are actually harder to fit than 18s! some weird things happen

also the profile of the tyre affects the stretch, obviously the taller the sidewall the less angle there will be to the stretch!

I've gave mine some handbrake grief and nothing has ever happened..

Drift cars run stretch and never pop the tyres off, thats up to 500bhp sliding on a stretched tyre...

Turbo'd VR6 Golfs with silly stretch on the front on £1k rims are fine, and think of the understeer from that torque..

thanks guys i found a grage that done it for me today they used seat covers or summat they said but they was a struggle they tried the bead blaster thingy but never worked hopefully they will be safe and not fall off the first corner i go round

Did they get the seat covers out or did they use those plastic bag style ones?
