Central Locking Prob

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've tried searching through the search engine but no joy,

Basically I installed an alarm with remote c/locking on my vw polo 97 CL over 6 months ago and worked fine until last week when the cental locking failed or so i thought, it seems to work now and again, but mostly not at all so this is becoming annoying now.

Can anyone help as i am not very good with Car mechanics/electrics, I just know how to drive them lol

There are bout 5 fuses at the alarm box and then all the relays under the steering wheel so not entirly sure which one would control the central locking. There is no rain getting into the car that i have noticed but will keep an eye on it over the next few days.

Any more advice would be helpful.

Thanks

could be a fault with the alarm/remote locking you had fitted. take it back where you got it fitted and ask them to have a look. Hard to tell from here has there are loads of different alarms/central locking systems out there.

I actually bought the system off the internet, it is a system called HUATAI car alarm system. Again i haven't had any probs with this system in 6 months, every other aspect of the system works fine except for the central locking which has days when it works and others when it doesnt.

Well you could check each fuse it doesnt take long as i had to do it the other day because i shorted my rear light cluster (plank) and it was the 3rd from the right, but deffo look into the alarm playing up.

Hy!

I know the problem. On the right side of the trunk, behind the carpet you have a compressor. This compressor always stay in water. Behind the tail light the car is pour, and the rain/water is damaged the kompressor panel. You must remove to check it, when the panel green and oxided, is not work. When the oxid not too strong or heavy you must try to clean it, but sometimes it is not enough, you mast change the part. It is a typical problem on the golf 3 polo 6n.

ahh fuck it not to high-jack thread but mines fucking gone now i think its all wet and shorting out but it works now and again....

Cheers for the info man, i'll have to check that one out to see if thats whats wrong. Out of interest incase i cant fix it how much would a new part be?

Still haven't sorted this one out, Checked all the relays and seem fine, compressor cover also seems fine wit no oxidation etc so thinking it may just be knackered lol.

Any ideas?

is it the central locking or the alarm system?... does the cl pump whirr continuously or just not work at all?

When i bought the car you needed to put the key into the drivers door to lock all doors with central locking, Then i installed alarm system which gave me remote central locking.

This worked for ages but now neither work and the C/L pump makes no noise at all, i have to push door pin down on passenger side door to lock and i always use key in drivers door to see if C/L will work.

Ok quick update on this one,

Checked all fuses and relays and all seem fine, Bought a new central locking pump and fitted it but still no joy,

Pump doesnt kick in when i use fob try and lock doors and turning the key in drivers side door doesnt work either.

Any ideas guys?
