Just put on a cheap set of 13" alloys (175/70/R13 tyres) on my Polo 6n and the front passenger wheel is catching on the 'front bottom of the wheel arch/lower bumper'

OK so it's obvioulsy not that the wheels are too big; it seems when I look at it, the passenger side front wheel sits alot more forward than the drivers front wheel. The drivers wheel has about 3-4cm gap between both the rear bottom of the arch and the front bottom of the arch. Whereas the passenger side has a approx 5cm gap at the rear bottom of the arch and about a 1cm gap at the front. I never noticed with my little steelies on.

It only rubs sometimes, usually when I turn a sharp right and then it seems to catch as the wheel straightens itself.

Is it possible my drive shaft is misaligned? I guess the bumper might be slightly out of line. Is there any other reason why it might be sitting further forward?

wishbone bushes ok?if there shot you will get movement. my drivers side wishbone bushes went and the driveshaft hit the chassis as a result

Yeah they should be fine, I replaced the entire passanger side wishbone about 2 weeks ago including 2 new bushes & a new balljoint.

Anyone got any other ideas on why my passenger side front wheel is sitting more forwards than the drivers side?

It doesn't seem to be sitting in the centre of the wheel arch.

I'm going to investigate further tomorrow (if its still not sleeting ) but it would be nice to know what I should potentially be looking out for.
