Any Tips On Fitting Glass

Featured Replies

My car got broken into a couple of weeks ago, they smashed the drivers side quarter light window, I've got the new glass and seal (thanks to Not_so_Shaw :)) just wondering if there is a trick to getting it in? Or should i cut my losses and take it to a Autoglass type place?

muchos thanks, Thorpy

hi thorpy . the way to fit the 1/4 glass is remove the door card , wind the window down and remove the 2 10mm`s that hold the glass in and lift it up slightly and push back then slide the glass into the bottom of the door , you may need to take the rubbers off at the bottom of the window . then their is another 10mm on the bottom of the back edge of the 1/4 glass and a screw on the top of the door , this hold the metal bar in slide the bar down then the 1/4 glass puls to the back of the car and its out (obiously you have no glass ) the new 1/4 then pushes back in and its then reverse order to put it all back together . dont think i`ve left anything out and have fun fitting , should take about an hour :-)

Cheers Polo d, got it all done now, but it was a serious ball ache (with much swearing) to get the main window back into the guide seals but got there in the end. well chuffed now that my car is watertight!

It's usually wiggling the bar out which can be an arse!

well done mate , glad my advise was helpfull :-D
